Let's hope there won't be any delays on this archive! 12/19/2016!!!
DAL
Just read the email! Pretty stoked too!!
I've been waiting forever for this puppy to arrive. Carson's books have very preachable material, now imagine his sermons. I'm pretty sure we won't be disappointed 👍
Many of us have been waiting for a long time for this. Hoping as well for a great resource.
Look at the titles of some of these "sermons":
Those of you who are pastors, have you ever preached such sermons? Now if Carson came to my church as a guest preacher, he could probably make these subjects preachable, interesting, and applicable. But if it were me preaching, I know such sermon topics wouldn't go over too well in the pews!
My point: I think it's more accurate to say this is a collection of Carson' sermons and lectures.

While some of those are more like lecture type information, yet they can be adapted for Bible Studies on a Wednesday night or Sunday morning. Lots of material to learn from it.
Is $89.95 a good pre order price?
16 cents per sermon. What do you think?
HAHA good point there...I never bought a sermon archive. I just want to know how people use these in their workflow?

I use it through Passage Guide or Topic Guide. There should be section: Sermons. For example, put "prayer" on Topic Guide and see how it is useful
From the Logos blog-
This resource will ship on 12/19 at 2:30 PM PST. Be sure to place your Pre-Pub order before then to lock in your discounted price!
Thanks for the tip!

FL is also working on a feature named "Send to Sermon Editor" which currently only works when you want to import outlines from the Dictionary of Bible Themes to the Sermon Editor. They are also working on making every Bible reference "hyperlinked" which is going to be very useful on mobile devices. No more creating slides that include all the text thereby making you manuscript too long within the software.
So how helpful do people find sermon archives to be? Or is it better to focus on dictionaries, commentaries, language tools, etc?
It depends upon my purposes. I would never focus on dictionaries or language tools as they are both items that should be outgrown for constant use and reserved to for actual problems. Commentaries and monographs should consistently be able to offer something new if you own a variety. Sermons I find very useful - but more historical than contemporary archives. They provide a cross-section view of how others have interacted with the text.
MJ, you bring up a lot of solid points. I have sort of a historical sermon archive from the packages I purchased from L6, and a little in 7. I was contemplating if the D.A. Carson one would be worthwhile since he is in my opinion a very solid scholar. Just trying to see if it's worth the investment, but again at 16 cents a sermon, that is great deal.
I'm starting to get nervous now it's almost 6 PM Eastern standard time and nothing. I hope they don't get pushback.
Aw, DAL! I got all excited when I saw your post.
It's after my bedtime but I've been waiting up for it. Ah well. Probably ought to head to bed anyway.
Hi all,
Per my blog post from this past Saturday, we were waiting until 2:30 PST to ship the sermon archive. Orders are currently being processed and shipped as we speak.
Enjoy the new sermon archive [:D]
Daniel
When I do a search of the DA Carson Sermon Media file I see only 16 videos and all the rest are audio files. I just want to verify that this is correct and that I'm not missing any videos.
Also, my computer seems to be having quite a bit of problems handling the media resource. I have a pretty powerful PC and never had any problems with a Logos resource before, but I'm regularly encountering the "Logos Not Responding" message. I'm just curious if anyone else having any problems?
My thanks in advance,

Ah, quite right! I didn't realised you posted those kind of specifics (though I love that you did!). I'll look out for it next time!
Thank you so much for your this! Impressed that I can view them on my phone straight away too!
It's here and also visible on my iPhone!!! Thank you very much!
I am downloading them! How does everyone like them so far?
What a rich resource - thank you.
A few comments:
1) When I look at the TOC for both the media and the transcribed sermons they appear rather in a rather higgledy-piggledy non-order (e.g., see below). I would have thought that they would be grouped according to series (admittedly, they kind of/sort of are). Am I missing something here? Is there a way to re-sort the TOC order? Or will this be adjusted in a future revision?
2) Also, it would seem that the transcribed sermons should hyperlink with the media (and vice versa) but they don't seem to.
3) Finally, I am slightly surprised at how few video files are included - I think I counted 16. Are more to be added in the future? For example, I would have thought that "The God Who is There" series would have had video files but it doesn't for some reason. Again, is this forthcoming in a future update?
Has anybody been able to actually watch a video? Each time I try to run one Logos stops responding. I'm wondering if I'm an isolated case or not. The audio seems to work okay.
Haven't tried it yet...wondering if I should return based off of the issues above...[:S]

16 videos is all I am seeing as well. They do run on my system (but it is a Mac).
thank you faithlife [Y]
Endlessly grateful for this resource. Thank you Faithlife! Now a quick question - can I download the audio and/or video files directly to my iPad, or does it always require an internet connection to play them?

The videos run on my PC but there is a noticeable, momentary lag as they download from the server. The wait is not too bad (60 Meg download), but might be if you have a slow internet connection.
Yes, you can.
For the Carson media resource, tap on the (i) in the library, and choose Download. Then tap on Media Downloads, and tap Download all.

Aw, c'mon.... you know it crossed your mind.
[:)] I don't think I have ever seen (or looked for) a formal definition of 'higgledy-piggledy' before, but it is interesting to note that I have employed a "double dactyl" (my mother would be so proud)! [;)]
Of course! Why didn't I think of that. [:D] As always, helpful and correct Mark. Thanks.
Mark, could you produce a “Scripture Index to Carson's Sermons" pretty please [:D]
There is a scripture index at the end of the resource along with a series index.
