Sermon editor Ugly formatting on export
I just decided to use sermon editor for the first time to prepare Sundays sermon and I'm regretting it. Everything was prepared and looked fantastic on Logos and then I decided to export.
Wow, it's horrible. The headings are massive, filling half a page and the nicely boxed and formatted verses are now just plain old text. It would have been faster to type straight into Word. The manuscript is 20 pages long...
Am I missing something? I thought that if not Word, at least the PDF would resemble how it looks in Logos.

What version of Word are you using? When I export, they are a little large (26pt), but no where near a half page.

That is the way it is designed right now. It would be nice the it closer to the way it appears in the sermon document.
During the beta, FL indicated they would eventually provide several format styles to choose from in a future release. Whether or not that will translate to different formatting when exported I do not know.

Actually, I had the paper on the wrong size but even so, it's super chunky.

It's a shame because i like the slide feature but i think I'll stick with what I'm used to for now. I like PDF'S because I can scribble on them in Goodreader. Those last minute scribbles are so important sometimes.

I usually choose heading 2 for everything and click twice on it to make the font smaller than normal. That helps keep a right font size when exporting to word and when it appears in the mobile app. Now, power point is a HUGE MESS, I don't even bother to create slides, I just copy and paste what I need and add custom slides or visual copy slides as needed.

Sorry about that... we're going to take a look at it. Ideally we'd just export the semantic H1, H2, value, etc. and let your style sheet in Word handle the formatting.
Or rather, ideally we can make the editor good enough that you won't need to go to Word, and can just work in Logos. :-) What's missing to make that happen?

Hi Bob, thanks for responding. From my perspective, it's better to skip Word as it just ads an extra step to my workflow. With documents, printing or PDF outputs exactly what you see in the app and that would suit me best. Although I can just open the sermon in Logos mobile, I prefer to output to an app like GoodReader because I can then add handwritten scribbles and annotations at the last minute.

You may remember I was one of the vocal proponents for mobile access during the beta and early releases of the Sermon Editor. Prior to having access to these documents on my ipad, I exported to word. Since access was afforded I use the Logos app.
I would like to see some additional style templates incorporated, but for now I am fine with the formatting capabilities of the editor, and how they appear in the mobile app.

For me - it's just about "availability"
I don't want some issue with the mobile app to mean I can't access my sermon notes - so I export them to Word and have that document available on my iPad as well. To date I haven't needed to refer to it!
When I started using Logos Notes on my iPad to preach I also printed out copies of my notes for a similar reason. I stopped doing that after a time and expect that I will stop exporting to Word at some stage as well.[:)]
The point about being able to make last-minute changes / updates is important though. It would be a useful thing to be able to do.

Is there a way to email the sermon once it's prepared without losing the formatting? I have been working in google docs and just sharing the file with my media team. I would hope to have something that would be seamless and not have to jump through a lots of hoops. Thanks!

I would like to come back to this issue. I would love to use Sermon Editor. But since we do Hand-Outs with preaching Notes in our own CI/CD (font, logo, header formatting) i need to bring the content of the sermon editor to word.
But boy is that a lot of work to do. I need to totally re-format every paragraph.
As much as i would like to use sermon editor, the pros are not outweighting the cons.
