I've had problems getting the indexing to finish. After a number of hours into indexing, notice a pop-up stating there is not enough disc space to complete indexing. How much disc space is required for indexing?
Thank you, - keith
How much disc space is required for indexing?
Dear Keith:
This can vary depending on the size of your library.
How many resources do you have in Logos 4?
How large is your Hard Drive?
How much "free" space do you have?
If you could at least provide the answers to these three questions there are a number of folks on the Forum who should be able to give you an answer.
For sizing comparison I have about 4500 resources, and the index files are a little over 7 GB. Bible index is just a megabyte or two.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.
I have 3,792 resources and a 55.8 G hardrive with 3.74 available space.
Keith,
You will have to make more space available. The ideal is to have 12 GB free, but you could aim for 9 -10 GB free. That should give enough space for the index and leave enough free for normal system operation. But it is tight!
I'll give you my system as an example: I have 8.83 GB of information in my Resource Manager folder (which includes books, infographics etc). My Library index is 3.53 GB and my Bible index (coming in 4.0b) is 841 MB. So, it is not out of line to think that the index will be around half the size of your resources (Developers correct me if I'm wrong on this).
This sounds like an older hard drive Keith. Have you considered freeing up some space by moving old files to an external HD or replacing the computers HD? A faster HD can really speed Logos up and keeping a good amount of blank space can help Windows perform better (it's much easier to defragment a hard drive if it has enough empty space).
