Memorize Tool (Long Passages)
I hope this is not posted somewhere else because I could not find it. My wife and I have been working on memorizing John 1. I was excited about the new memorization tool in Logos 5 but was very disappointing with the limited features it has. I can't even figure out how to type the the whole passage in logos without skipping around verses. When memorizing passages one of the most important aspects is being able to connect one verse to the next and keep them in order. The current memorize tool does not help much with memory work on long passages.
Are there any features I am missing?
Are there any ways to modify the tool?
I saw on other posts that there are some online memorization tools but I don't have internet at home so please don't suggest online programs (unless they are downloadable and can be ran without internet).

I agree with you - I want to memorize books and chapters, not individual verses. I posted a suggestion having that feature but have not received a response.
There are some programs you can download and use. Do you own an iOS device? There are some great memorization programs and some voice memorization programs you might find helpful.

Alexander -- Which iOS memorization apps would you recommend? I'm using a couple of them but neither handles Chinese Bible verses very well (or at all).

Hey PL! ScriptureTyper is pretty good. If you can log into the web version of the product (free) you may be able to drop in other language characters. I can try Greek tonight if you'd like me to do so. I also like Memorize which is a voice recording memorization app. Finally, I like "Fighter Verses" as well which comes from John Pipers church

Jason, I'm guessing you may have already discovered this bit, but if you enter the entire chapter in the reference box of the passage guide, and then go to memorize, the memorize tool will break it into individual verses. Practice mode lets you practice the verses in sequential order.
The problem is that Quiz mode will only allow you to "quiz" the verses in random order.
SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT: It would be helpful to be able to choose whether to take the quiz in sequential or random order. Random is very helpful when learning individual verses. A sequential mode would be very helpful when learning longer passages.
As for other memorization tools, the android version of "Remember Me" is excellent and I would guess that the IOS version is good as well. The Android version is free but it would be well worth the 2.99 price tag at the apple store. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/remember-me/id504171445?mt=8
What I like about it (in addition to its helpful practice modes) is the way that verses are scheduled periodically for review. those apps sound great but I don't have an Ipad, Iphone, Ipod, Android, Smart phone, Pda, or anything like that. I have my Windows PC and that's it.

I found this discussion because I, too, was looking for a way to do memorization on a long passage instead of one verse at a time.
LOGOS, PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE! Working on one verse at a time makes it difficult to get the flow of the passage, which is really important for memorization!

As an alternative, I've found Anki works really well... once you figure it out. It's a flash card program that works on Windows, Mac, *nix, Android, iOS with large library of user generated cards. I'm using some user created cards now for learning the greek alphabet and vocabulary. They also have some with scripture and just about anything you might want, or you can bake your own. Very flexible. And the spaced repetition method it uses seems to work very nicely.

I also would like to see this added. Sometimes two or more verses need to be memorized together as a single passage, not separately

Hi all,
I know this is an older thread, but it looks like there's still been no progress in Logos 7 in terms of memorizing more than one verse at a time.
Anyone have any updates?

I agree with Rob. I came to make the suggestion of putting the Quiz into sequential order, only to find the feature has been requested for 5 years. Since it already exists in the Practice mode, it would seem like a very small tweak to have Quiz mode do the same. Logos, you have a fantastic feature started, but it needs just a couple of tweaks to really finish it off. Please add this!
