I'm a windows guy, but installed Logos on a mac in our home. I know it is an older machine (no SSD) but indexing has been trying for weeks and never gets past 0% I think I captured the correct logs and am attaching to this post4456.LogosLogs.DaveNAnn.20171014-103456.zip
Ironically, after turning on and capturing logs the program is now indexing past the 0%. I'm all the way up to 18% [;)]
Interesting how it works like that -- have a car problem for weeks, take it to the mechanic and the problem disappears.
Counting my blessings that the problem may have fixed itself.
If one of the experienced users who understands Apple could look for abnormalities in the log, I would still appreciate it!!
How much free space? How much RAM?
ronically, after turning on and capturing logs the program is now indexing past the 0%. I'm all the way up to 18%
No issue is indicated, but you need to enable logging again as there is no information from the Indexer. Have you tried updating to Logos 7.9?
You have only 4 GB memory and I would advise having at least 8 GB.
Have you tried updating to Logos 7.9?
Concur with updating as Logos.log shows version 7.8 SR-1
For hardware upgrades, I Fix It has repair guides for the mid-2011 27" iMac (12,2 model) => https://www.ifixit.com/Device/iMac_Intel_27%22_EMC_2429 that shows upgrading RAM is easy while adding SSD is difficult (getting to second SATA port on motherboard). Replacing 1 TB hard drive with hybrid drive or Solid State Disk would be easier. Booting Mac from USB OR Optical OR Internet allows Apple Disk Utility to easily copy existing internal configuration to an external drive, which can be followed by physically swapping drives.
Personally using Logos 7.10 RC 2 on a MacBook Air with 4 GB RAM and internal SSD, which works decently.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Processes were stacking up "3" in blue circle in upper right hand side. got a message about "updating paused until after indexing completes"
I will log back in to that machine this afternoon and check on progress.
Thank you all for your kind advice.
This is actually my parents' computer. We share a home and are on the same wifi network. I installed a user account on their computer to help them debug issues to the best of my ability. If this machine were to be used with any frequency I would do the RAM update suggested. It has hundreds of gigs of HD space available. Since this is not my computer and it is a dinosaur (in tech terms) it isn't work upgrading. All they do is web browsing, email and minimal online banking. I just installed Logos so that I could compare the user experience and feature parity with the Windows version that I use daily. It is more a curiosity than an essential tool.
