Does anyone know why when clicking on a TDNT link in Strongs Lexicon does not open in TDNT (which i already have open, also there are no other TDNT resources open) ?
Steve,
I THINK that this was brought up during the beta testing and I had assumed that Logos took care of it....evidently not.
Logos! Bug report....
Thanks Robert !
BTW i am using SR7.
I have been wrestling with this problem ever since installing Logos4. It came to light for me initially because the ESL link in the Info pane did not point to ESL but to TDNT. After receiving advice that that was because I did not have my books prioritized - ie., ESL was not placed ahead of TDNT in the list - that initial problem was fixed. But ... that fix did not help the problem notified in this post by steve clarke. none of the TDNT links inside of ESL actually work at all - none of them!!! Has any work been done on this bug. I can only conclude it is a bug because it is strange to say the lease that a named linked resource should point to a different resource in the fist place - that is allegedly fixed by changing the priority list - and that TDNT links inside ESL sometimes open to ESL locations.
LDLS Version 3 never had this problem!
Would somebody please help on this. Thank you.
John Maxwell
John,
i found a work around:
Link the ESL and the TDNT and the TWOT (i use C, see below)
When ever i click on a Strong's number, it shows in All three resources.
Thank you for the advice - I shall certainly use it.
Do you have any feedback indicating whether Logos acknowledge this problem with ESL & TDNT links and are fixing them?
It still doesn't work in 4.0aSr3 (the current official release, which i use). As for a fix in the 4.0b Beta, i don't know. Sorry [:(]
The work around works so well, that i probably wouldn't know when they fix it [:)]. The work around works instantly so that i don't have to click the TDNT or the TWOT. Since i have both in the same window, the appropriate one becomes active (TDNT or TWOT) in the window at the bottom of my previous screen shot.
It was fixed in 4.0b beta 11: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8398/93605.aspx#93605
Hopefully 4.0b will be released within a few weeks.
The problem also occurs in the TDNTA when you click the volume/page # after the author's name. Clicking the link directly opens DBL for me (evidently because it's at the top of my priority list for dictionaries), but right-clicking the link then clicking "Theological Dictionary of the New Testament" in the left half of the pop-up window opens TDNT to the correct article.
The problem also occurs in the TDNTA when you click the volume/page # after the author's name.
TDNTA is not indexed for volume/page #, only Page # and Greek headwords (see Indexes in its Resource Information).
Dave, you misunderstand. TDNTA links to TNDT, and it's these links that aren't working for sstocking.
sstocking, you need to ensure that TDNT is prioritised above DBL at least for the type TDNT (you can right click on resources to set their advanced prioritisation). Here's what the relevant part of my prioritisation looks like:
Ah, yes. I see that now.
My DBL is prioritised for Greek only so all TDNT (Vol/Page) references go to the TDNT resource even when DBL has higher priority.
