Calvin's Commentaries Bugs/Problems

Some bugs/problems I've found so far:
1. The book titles are not consistent (eg. "Calvin’s Commentaries: Commentary on the First Book of Moses Called Genesis", "Commentary on the Book of Joshua")
2. Series metadata is missing for the following volumes, 1&2 Corinthians, Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Ezekiel, John.
3. The commentary on Daniel didn't download automatically (to resolve this download it manually, type 'Scan x:\[File Path], restart logos)
4. Passage Guide>Commentaries doesn't show Calvin's Commentaries.
Edit:
5. Calvin's Commentaries on The Twelve Minor Prophets don't contain hyper linked verse numbers preceding the commentary on each verse. This renders 'Cited by' and custom 'Passage Guide>Collection (Calvin's comm.)' useless if searching for a specific verse.
6. Entering the page number in a commentary jumps to the wrong book. (eg. While in the commentary on Genesis, entering 'p.258' jumps to the commentary on Joshua; Page 258 in Genesis should be Genesis 6:18)

Good find(s). I am having all of the same issues.

Download the book to 'C:\daniel'
In Logos command line type 'Scan C:\daniel'
Restart Logos

How many actual resources should there be. I can only count 99 but I can only verify two missing which are "Institution de la Religion" and "Institutio Christianae". I already had the commentaries and I got 56 new files downloaded.
The two missing books are not missing in my Logos 3.0 setup.

I can get his commentaries working in my passage guides. Did you try multiple references? i.e. If I enter Luke 4:4 I dont get Calvins commentaries in my PG,but if I look at Luke 4:3-4 I do.
And i get 33 resources under the command author:"John Calvin" Is that right? Downloaded the 500 collection.

There are 75 files, so that's how many resources you should see get added. That's how many links were on my email confirmation, and how many resources are shown on the product page at http://www.logos.com/products/details/5170.
The reason there are 75 resources for 108 books is because quite a few have multiple books in one Logos book - for example, "Letters of John Calvin" is 4 volumes, but they are one book in Logos.
I did some checking, and I am satisfied all the resources are there. The two resources you mentioned are there in mine, you might need to carefully check spelling etc. because I believe they have some different letters in them due to the Spanish titles - just my guess. Anyway,I attached a graphic showing the resources in mine:

How do I get my library index to list all of the Calvin 500 resources in one place? Sorting by author does not work. It seems Calvin is not the author of his own letters!

Thanks, After reading a bunch of other Forum Articles, what I ended up doing was running the scan command on my Logos 3.0 directory and now the two missing resources are in 4.0
Do you know how to get the resource filename from the Library?

Just open the resource and then click the 'i' in a circle (top left of the resource) and the filename should show at the bottom of the resulting pane.

I use the following string in Library/Collections. It's wider than the 500 collection, but not by much.
author:"calvin, john", title:calvin, subject:calvin

I've tagged every work in my Calvin 500 collection (which, as Mark Barnes points out does not include everything by or about Calvin), and created a collection of it, just so I could verify all the works in it. I do indeed have all 75 books. I exported the bibliography if anyone is interested in comparing.

Using your string I get 98 books. Using just Calvin and filtering out the 10 books that don't belong I get 100 books. This includes 43 Calvin Commintaries that have a different cover (which makes them easy to count)
So is this correct or not?

This is a perfect example of why Logos needs to give us the ability to show "recently added" items in a library search. The cloud resource delivery and sync is great, except when you spend a bunch of dollars on many items, and then you have to wonder if all of them made it to your computer. Especially when you see post after post where someone is missing one or two items.
Very bad.

Yes it does. I manually remove Shedd, Van Til on Daane and Boettner on Predestination. But I leave Kuyper and Van Til on Calvinism, and Warfield, de Kroon and Piper on Calvin. I know they're not part of the official series, but they certainly fit with the series.

I called Logos and there is a problem with my book count but they don't know what it is yet but will call me back when they know. The problem seems to be that I don't have any of the new book files for the Calvin Commentaries set and she does not know why I did not get them. They may not be avalable yet was the guess.
Did anyone buy the whole 108 book collection (not the upgrade) and got all the commentaries with the new book covers that match the other new books.
The old version (for instance) has Daniel as one volume but the new ones have it as two volumes. The old versions have Jeremiah & Lam. as two volumes but the new ones have it as 5 volumes. And there are others. So I'm probably not missing anything. It's just a discrepancy in the volumes/resources.

4 - MINE DOES in Daniel - I have prioritised the (15-book) series (not sure if that makes a difference) - but not in 1 Co, or John, but it appears in books where the Series metadata is correct
Hope they fix 4 and 5 especially very quickly. 1 is annoying ...

#4 is priority 1 for me...that's why I bought the commentaries even though I have them in another software package.
I'm frustrated...using incomplete resources on unfinished software.

My email only included links to 56 L3 files on the ftp site. I see that it did not include any of his commentaries except the harmony on the gospels. So as far as I can tell I'm still missing one file. 56 + 18 commentary files = 74. Do they really expect me to manually go through every file and check it off? UPDATE - I did and found the missing file - it wasn't grouped with the other commentary files on the ftp site when sorted by date. Is this really necessary?
In the world of L4 I have the updated commentary files but am missing the Latin and French editions of ICR. I can't easily tell if I'm missing anything else...
What is going on???

I can't believe we've heard nothing from Logos yet today---not one word---about the Calvin download problem. Communication is paramount in these cases.

I have, I called them, showed them the problem, they calld me back, checked a few things, and they are working on a solution. She said she will call me back again when they have an answer.

I appreciate you checking on this John, however they do need to communicate directly with the buyers IMO. I just figured they would be scrambling this morning because of the volume of frustrated comments.

You sure it was Calvin's Commentaries and not the book by Haroutunian? I can get the Calvin: Commentaries by Haroutunian to display in PG but not main commentaries.
Can someone else try to confirm if it works or not? A screen shot would be nice.

I cannot get the new Calvin's Commentaries to show up in the Passage guide. They do not show up if the commentary collection in the PG is All Commentaries nor if I select the collection I have of just the new Calvin's commentaries.

Are
those all the commentaries? Since the list goes right to the bottom of
the window, are you sure there isn't anything to follow?Does the book have the right type :
Is your resource the same version and file type as mine?

I've used a version of Calvin's commentaries happily for years, without thought of what source it was.
When I bought a new laptop, I loaded it with Logos 4. I left Logos 3 on my old laptop.
Everything was fine. When the Calvin's Commentaries upgrade was offered, I purchased it.
Now, I don't have either the old version appearing on my Logos 4 library, or the new commentaries.
I just went to my old computer, which still has Logos 3 installed, and found the file.
Apparently, my version isn't an AGES version, but one from Galaxie Software:
Calvin, J. (2000). Calvin's Commentaries (electronic ed.). electronic ed. Garland, TX: Galaxie Software.
It was recognized on Logos 4 and working fine--that is, until last week when the not-yet present update cleared pre-pub.
Help!

Doug, one issue could be that the update will not work with the Galaxie version of the commentaries. You should not have lost that volume, but the Calvin 500 Update will not give you the new volumes.
If you can, verify whether that volume is still in your Logos 4 resource fold. You can find it here (in Windows 7):

David, it looks to me like you aren't using the actual "Commentaries" section in your passage guide. That section labeled Calvin's Commentaries looks like a "Collection" section (which operates differently than the Commentaries section).

Ahh, my bad. I didn't realise the commentaries section in the default passage guide operated differently. So I just checked and no I don't get Calvin's commentaries under the normal commentaries section.

Yes! Some of us that did the Upgrade don't have the new ones. I called Logos Tech Support ten minutes ago and they are still working on it. She will call me when she gets a resolution buy the program will probably just download them automatically.

I can speak to a few of these:
1 & 2. As is clear, we've had some problems moving over to the new metadata system. These errors should be fixed shortly (and automatically on your side), and we'll be tightening things up for future releases. Thanks for your patience.
5. I'm going to suggest that we add this content to the book, as it would be quite useful and fairly simple for us to do so. Hopefully, we'll have an update before too long.
6. The Genesis volume combines two volumes, and uses the volume/page data type. If you specify volume 1 or 2 with your page, you'll get to the correct location.
A "series" in 4.0 works like a 3.0 Serial Resource Association, so that if Logos fails to find an appropriate location in the volume you're looking at, it searches the rest of the series. Thus, when it fails to find a "Page 258" in Genesis, it looks through the rest of the series until it finds one. Admittedly, in this case, this is really only useful for the Bible data type and not for page and volume/page. I'll investigate the possibility of limiting these associations to specific data types.

Just an update on Calvin in the Passage Guide. I tried the same PG setting as before but in my 4.0b Beta version and Calvin's Commentary comes up. I've tried it on a couple of passages in other books and get his commentaries there also. So for now the problem is limited to my SR-3 version which I'll check again shortly.

I finally got my missing Commentaries late yesterday but there was ONE missing and it took a call to Tech Support to get it to download. I also just got the 19 new resource files into L3 by manually downloading them to that directory. The missing file was in L3 (Daniel) but was not in L4 which prompted the Tech Support phone call. It ended up being a problem with a file in ...\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4\Install\Installers
