https://community.logos.com/discussion/comment/1384332#Comment_1384332Hi Jason,Not sure at this point if I will be able to attend a live event with a rigid schedule. But I do have some questions I would love to have answered.Currently your subscription prices are $10, $15 or $20 per month. How long do you expect it to be before these prices are raised? Is Logos willing to guarantee that they will not be raising these prices every year? When the prices are raised, are current L10 discount customers going to still be paying the same amount, or will their prices go up also? How does Logos justify charging me for the full subscription cost when I already own most of the included resources and program features?
Vlad Members November 4, 2025Nov 4 Author stats Currently, subscribers have no option to choose which books are included in their subscription. On the Subscription FAQ page, there is a question: “Can I still buy and keep books, or will they be subscription-only too?”The answer to that question says: “…In the future, we may add book subscription options for those who want them…” My question is: when can we expect to be able to “rent” or “subscribe” to the book libraries of our choice? For example, when I add books to my shopping cart, I can either buy them outright or choose a payment plan for permanent purchase. Could we also have an option to rent the books we choose instead of buying them?

Vlad Members November 7, 2025Nov 7 Author stats I'd like to expand a bit on my previous post:Suggestion: Allow users to choose the books included in their Logos subscription Many users appreciate that Logos subscriptions now provide faster access to new and improved features. As explained on the Subscription FAQ page, the goal is to deliver continual innovation, advanced AI capabilities, and cloud-backed features without having to wait for major version releases. However, several Logos users have expressed a recurring concern about the book libraries included in the subscription tiers. Currently, each subscription level comes with a fixed set of books chosen by Logos. For many long-time customers, this default library overlaps heavily with resources they already own. As a result, when such users subscribe mainly for the new features and datasets, they gain little or no value from the bundled library. For example, one user summarized the issue this way: “I already own nearly every resource licensed with the Premium subscription, and most or all of the ones I don’t own are resources I’m not interested in. So if I pay for a Premium subscription, I get the software features that come with the subscription—but little value from the books included with the subscription.” To make the subscription model more flexible and beneficial for a wider range of users, I’d like to suggest allowing subscribers to choose the books included in their subscription package, rather than being limited to a fixed set. Here’s how it could work: The base features, datasets, and interlinears would remain the same for each tier (as listed in this spreadsheet). Instead of automatically receiving the default book library, users could select other books of equivalent total value (or pay a slightly adjusted monthly fee depending on the resources they choose). This approach would: Make the subscription more appealing for long-time Logos users who already own large libraries. Encourage more users to subscribe for both features and books that truly interest them. Reflect the same customer-centric flexibility that Logos offers through dynamic pricing. Some other users suggested to instead provide a "no library" option for the subscription, to avoid chaotic pricing for the subscription. In this case, users would benefit from a separate subscription to the books of their choice, in parallel to the subscription to Logos features, which would perfectly align with the statement from FAQ that “in the future, we may add book subscription options for those who want them.” Thank you for considering this idea!

This is a great idea, Vlad, and something that we've been exploring for some time though it's not presently our roadmap. If you are still interested in this, I would encourage you to add your voice to the product suggestion that is already live on our community. Be as specific as you can!
There are many times where I am researching a passage for a sermon and want to quickly look up a scholars opinion on a passage but cannot justify buying the entire book/commentary. I have often thought that it would be nice to have a feature built into logos for renting books. Renting could expire quickly, with limited functionality, and access (no printing or copying, one book at a time, 15 page access, expires after 24 hours, etc.).
There is an interest to obtain a subscription. What will be gained from entering into a subscription? Where can I find a detailed presentation of the subscription levels?
We've had lots of different Silver editions of Logos, depending on how long ago you bought it. A subscription would likely add lots of new functionality — things we've built in the last few years such as Study Assistant, Smart Bible Search, Bible Study Builder, and Insights. But — depending on your subscription level, probably also some older features that you don't already have. You can get a full breakdown at https://www.logos.com/configure/subscriptions, or call 888-563-0382.
Thanks for the suggestion, Vlad. We will need to balance publishers' and readers' needs. One of the reasons we can offer such great discounts on libraries and the books included in a subscription is that publishers are glad some of their backlist titles get wider exposure and readership through inclusion. We'd be unlikely to be able to offer such significant discounts if that weren't the case. I'll pass this your suggestion to the team that builds the libraries and the books parts of the subscriptions.
I get asked this question at least six times per day! It is something we'd like to do, certainly. We have lots of improvements to Study Assistant already lined up for v47 in December, and I don't know that we'll get it done by then. But I think we'll get to it reasonably soon. In the meantime, you can ask questions like what does John Piper say about joy, and Study Assistant will constrain its search to just books written by John Piper. This works best when you spell authors' names in the same way they're spelled in the Library.
Mark Barnes (Logos) Administrators November 7, 2025Nov 7 Author stats
Sharing these questions here on behalf of John.https://community.logos.com/discussion/comment/1384420#Comment_1384420
Currently your subscription prices are $10, $15 or $20 per month. How long do you expect it to be before these prices are raised? I'm not aware of any plans to raise prices. Is Logos willing to guarantee that they will not be raising these prices every year? I don't think any company could guarantee, far into the future, whether there will be price rises. I will say that the subscription has been out for over a year now (plus a six-month early access period), and we haven't raised the base prices during that period. And some of our previous subscription products, like Logos Now, kept the same price for years and years. Others, like Proclaim, have had only occasional price increases (and Proclaim's price even fell for some users). So, while I can't make any guarantees about price rises, I think we've been fair with subscribers in the past, and I'm confident that fairness will continue. When the prices are raised, are current L10 discount customers going to still be paying the same amount, or will their prices go up also? Receiving an L10 discount ensures you'll continue to get a discount compared to the full price, but it doesn't guarantee that your price will never increase. How does Logos justify charging me for the full subscription cost when I already own most of the included resources and program features? When we launched the Logos subscription, it included two years' worth of dedicated software development by a large team, even for someone who owned Logos 10. Now it includes three years' worth of that development. While we want to honor those customers who bought a subscription within the first year, we can't offer that same discount to new subscribers forever. It's up to you and every other customer to decide whether we're offering sufficient value to make a subscription worthwhile. That's one of the benefits of a subscription. You get to decide that every month. You get to hold us accountable. We're striving to ensure that Logos is increasingly useful and worth the price we charge. But it's up to you to decide whether we've achieved that.
Mark, thanks for your reply. Then perhaps you can create a pool of resources which are approved for rent, and which could replace the resources included in the standard libraries coming with the subscription tiers. Or, users could subscribe to them separately. I know about the rentals page, but it has not been updated for a long time, and I guess that the list of resources which are approved for rental (book subscription) could be significantly expanded. Also, there is a subscription to Galaxie’s Theological Journal Library, and it would be great to be able to subscribe to the other journal libraries (including the Master Journal Bundle).

The question was not about software development. The response does not acknowledge the double billing issue.
When we launched the subscription, we offered a discount to customers who already had some of the features and books. If you owned an entry-level L10 package, you probably got a bigger discount than you "deserved". If you had 50,000 books in your library and owned Logos 10 Collectors Edition, then perhaps the discount wasn't quite enough. If we had wanted to ensure no one got "double billed," we could have applied dynamic pricing instead. Had we done so, some people who had paid more would have paid less, and everyone's price would have gone up every time we added a new feature. I don't think anyone would have wanted that, even if it had been technically fairer. Dynamic pricing isn't the right solution for subscriptions. So one year on, what do we do? We're offering more value than ever with improvements like Smart Bible Search and Study Assistant. We're absorbing more and more AI costs as people value and use those features. With all the improvements, it's probably not appropriate to continue offering the same discount we offered a year ago to new subscribers. So, we were faced with a choice. We could reduce the discount for L10 owners to reflect the new value added. Or we could eliminate the discount. In the end, the decision was made to eliminate the discount to simplify our offering and help us continue to invest heavily in further improvements. You may not think that's entirely fair. But, as I've tried to explain, it's impossible to be exactly fair to everyone, given that every user has a different level of investment and continues to use Logos in very different ways. We know the decision hasn't pleased everyone, and we understand why. But again, you get to decide whether we're offering sufficient value to you. If you already have Logos, the features and books you have continue to work. You'll even continue to benefit from smaller improvements. You don't have to subscribe to continue to enjoy the fruits of your existing investment, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy using Logos to study God's Word — regardless of whether or not you subscribe.
