Searching, what am I doing wrong?

I was trying to search "What's so amazing about Grace" by Phillip Yancey, both via the search function and the inline function. I need to find a part of it for a sermon illustration. But i would not return any results, none for the words i was searching for so i tried standard ones like pronouns or Jesus, but still it was giving 0 results. What am I doing wrong?

I think what you are doing is searching for a resource by using the tools to search WITHIN the resource. You can find a resource by using the Library (the book icon on the top-left of Logos). You can search within a specific resource by changing the resource menu in the Search panel (see screenshot).

Hi James, welcome to the Logos forums.

That's odd. I got the same result when I typed "jesus" into the inline search box and hit Enter.

However, then I closed the inline search and did a Find (Ctrl+F) and it was able to find an instance of Jesus:

Then I closed the find box and went back to inline search and typed Jesus and it found 300 instances:

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had Match Case turned on in my Search tab, and that affects the inline search as well, even though there is no way from within inline search to turn it off.

Could that be affecting your search results?

If not, did you recently purchase "What's So Amazing about Grace?" and have you given Logos a chance to index it? If indexing is still in progress, search results will be incorrect.

Thanks for the responses, i checked the case match but no joy. I then decided to search all my resources, for words like grace, which should have a high return rate. But the search is only coming up with 17 resources. I wonder if my index is corrupt, is it possible to reindex?

Yes, you can type rebuild index into the Logos command box, and then wait until it's done (it can take a while; percent complete progress can be seen by hovering over the Logos icon in your tray in Windows; not sure where in Mac). Let us know if that doesn't fix the problem.

Yes, you can reindex...type Rebuild Index in the command box.
