BUG: unnecessary complexity in references

Using the NRSV as the highest priority Bible, enter the following four references into the GO box and observe the results:

Esther A:13 --> converts to LXX-S Esther A:13
Gk Es 12:2 --> no conversion
Add Es A:13 --> converts to CEB Greek Esther A:13
NJB Es 1:1n --> no conversion

Note all of these correspond to the NRSV Greek Esther 12:2

BUG: Why don't the 1st and 3rd reference convert to the NRSV equivalent and save the subsequent conversion to the NRSV?

BUG? Why don't the 1st and 3rd reference both convert to the LXX-S if they can't convert directly to the NRSV?

No conversion is going on in any of these cases.

The reference box is showing you the only way it can understand your input. In the first case, there is no Esther A in the NRSV (your top Bible). But the reference box says, "Well, if we were to use the LXX versemap, 'Esther A:13' would be acceptable", so it shows "LXX Es A:13" in case that's what you meant.

In the second case, you're typing in a verse reference that's understood in the NRSV versemap, so it can be accepted as-is.

The third case is very similar to the first; the reference can't be parsed in the NRSV versemap, but the system finds some versemap where it could be parsed. It prompts: Is that what you meant?

In the fourth case, you're explicitly typing "NJB" as a hint to the reference box as to which versemap to use; your input is accepted directly in that versemap.

This is by design.

Thanks - I understand what you're doing now. The conversion happens when you actually position yourself in a Bible.
