I did a search for "All Text" in the book "The Christian Doctrine of Prayer" for the word "prayer" and had zero results. Prayer is the theme of this book and the word is used numerous times.
I just did a "Basic" search in "All text" in "15 resources with author:macarthur" for "prayer" and received zero results.

Do you have match all word forms selected? (I don't think that is the problem). How old is this installation? Did it index properly? What version & platform?
It does seem irrelevant when I chose a word that was in the title of the book as to what forms it might take. I don't know if it indexed properly. How would one tell? I am using Logos Bible Software 6.0b SR-3 6.0.2.0079 on a Macbook Pro, early 2011 with Yosemite 10.10.2 installed and 16 gb of Ram.
I can get that screen shot too.
Well I don't know if MacArthur prays but Wright certainly mentions Jesus a few times!
He does for me

What about Basic searches of other resources for a different word/phrase? Do Bible searches provide results?
If you are getting no results then use the command rebuild index and wait for a few hours.

We seem to have established that MacArthur did not pray and the Wright did not mention Jesus.
Do Bible searches provide results?
I can however confirm that Jesus is mentioned in my copy of the ESV (which is something of a relief)
If two people find exactly the same bug and need to rebuild their index isn't this a hint that something in the updates/engine is causing a problem and that a central solution should be sought rather than individuals seeking to bodge a fix locally?
However I will rebuild the index and report back.
Yup, from the screenshot it looks like an indexing issue. None of the search settings (Match case, Match all word forms, Match equivalent references) would cause there to be zero results for this search.
Definitely do rebuild index (type it into the Logos command bar at the top of your main window) and wait until indexing is complete. You'll see the percent complete if you hover over the status icon in the upper right near the Layouts menu.

When did we establish that? Did you try it? Nobody else has tried the exact search the OP gave (at least they haven't posted their results yet). I get plenty of results, so I am pretty certain it is a local indexing problem.
Did you try it?
Yes! Sorry! I thought that could be taken as read.

So am I - but with more than one person getting the same problem - it begs the question as to where the problem of 'local indexing' actually lies.
I will re-index but my local index should not be corrupted by something external to my machine and if it does then the cause needs to be addressed centrally.

Ah, sorry. I was being a bit dense.
Agreed. The number of times we have to instruct people to rebuild index does make one wonder why all these corrupt indexes keep happening. I'd guess it was most likely a bug in the indexing software rather than a central (server-based) issue. But how to track it down when it is so random is another question. More diagnostic logging output perhaps, and automatically saving multiple iterations of the indexing log file so that developers can go back and look at the previous one(s) before the corrupt index was suspected, to find out how it got into that state.
I think Logos are already alerted to this issue and - from Bradley's comment when my index was broken lastly - may have already some fixes in the work.

I couldn't leave you stranded in the road and only send the mechanic when I got to Bellingham[:D]. I stopped for a couple of other people with similar symptoms, so I'll mention you-all to the mechanic at Bellingham!

18k! Congratulations [^] [B]
Indeed Congratulations Dave - and a personal thank you for your help.
I have re-indexed. It does seem to have removed the problem. I am now taking side bets on how long it is before I have to re-re-index!
Edward - have a go at it yourself and let us know how you get on.
Just found out that MacArthur did pray or at least mentioned it in his writings. I am not on top of his personal habits. I rebuilt the index as suggested and received a good result.
