As I have recently discovered, the Atlas feature of Logos 6 works only while online, otherwise it is useless.  Is this something that will be addressed at some point?

Thanks

Stephen, from what I recall, the size is too large for many Hard drives, and persons with metered bandwidth will have problems downloading it. The same applies to books.logos.com

There are no plans to make Atlas available offline.

There are a number of other Logos 6 features that require Internet access; see here for a list & discussion: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/93180/647603.aspx#647603

Thanks for the response, I would imagine the maps would be large but not as large as most mapping software that you can download and install.  The logos Atlas really is not that detailed.  With the libraries themselves at 5GB+ when installed what a couple more :-)

It does present a problem as well for those who are wanting to use the software out in the world where wifi is not available or is poor service.  An option to download them locally would be nice.

I agree.  If the customer wants it available offline it would be nice to have the option.

Bob was taking about TERABYTES. Most users don't even have that capacity.

An inexpensive fix is to buy for $3.95 Logos Deluxe Map Set This will give you all the maps you need offline and still have FL new Atlas to use when online.

I think the other poster was suggesting that he has a hard time believing that there are terabytes of maps vs the amount of information we actually get in the software.

While I do not doubt Bob, I do have a hard time believing that with some optimization that couldn't be drastically reduced because on the surface there isn't really that much there. Granted, I don't do the developing and don't know the inner-workings of Atlas.

I personally would wish that Logos created a "make available offline" button for maps in Atlas, Visual Copy templates etc. So people could decide about what and when to download - a pastor preparing stuff on a retreat site may need two or three VC templates (including one he replaces with a custom background) and only a couple of maps. Others may wish to download all (just as those who want their Portfolio library on their cell-phone).

But we should be aware that everything downloaded needs a sync infrastructure (including Logos uploading all that TB some people would want to download) and a local indexing run.

One person complained that in essence FL was offering the features found in the Accordance atlas which is fully offline. Since FL maps offer not only 3D typography but also high resolution satellite photos FL version has a much greater size. Personally I like the ACC model but FL implemented it as they did.
