I am just getting started with collections. The first one I tried to do was to separate my Greek and Hebrew dictionaries. My plan was to start by entering "dictionaries" and then applying an "andnot Greek" command to the results to leave mostly Hebrew dictionaries. So when I applied "dictionaries" to my library I got 48 hits. When I tried to apply the "andnot" operhand, the results dropped to "zero" before the "andnot" was completely entered. Specifically, when "andn" is entered, I.e., the "n" is typed, the results went immediately from 48 to 0.

I would appreciate any help you can provide, I really need this to work.

The list is just updating to show what you have currently entered. Don't worry about it until you finish typing in your search.

However, there are a couple of things to be aware of. First, "andnot" needs to be in uppercase -- "ANDNOT" . This is true for search terms in searches as well.

Second, you may want to think through how you are trying to compile this collection. Choosing all dictionaries and then excluding those which have Greek would not leave you with all Hebrew dictionaries. This would include Bible dictionaries, English dictionaries, etc. Look at the wiki page - http://wiki.logos.com/Collections- and notice how the Aramaic Lexicon collection is set up. You could use something like this just changing Aramaic to Hebrew.

Is there a way to build a collection (or search for that matter) by eliminating a certain search term. i.e. Say I want to search everything but the works of John Calvin for 'predestination'. Is the only way I can do this by creating a collection of Calvin's works, then creating another dynamic collection that is everything but Calvin's works. Then searching within that final collection. IF this is the only way, it'd be nice to be able to eliminate a search term easier. i.e. predestination ANDNOT mytag:"John Calvin"

Yes, you can make nested collections. Make a John Calvin collection, then create another collection which starts with the rule rating:>=0 (which will pick up everything in your library) and then drag your Calvin collection from the Open menu in the Collections panel into the "Minus these resources" area of the new collection. Give it a name and close it and you're done.

Right, but the point being we always have to create a collection to exclude certain search results. Will just have to wait for the collapsible search results [:)] I hope its coming

And I would love to be able to put library filter terms right on the Search command line like your example predestination ANDNOT mytag:"John Calvin"
I hope that will be coming someday too.
