[resolved] Word Filter

I use Word Filter for about 40 or so words throughout the bible.  When I study the bible in my layout, my preferred bible is the NKJV.  I also have the ESV, Net and NASB linked.  Word filter works on the three linked bibles and does not work anymore on the NKJV.  It used to work but does not populate anymore.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Todd

Hello, Todd, and welcome to the forums.

Have you checked that the filter is checked on in the NKJV?

The option in Word Filter reads: "Search all text in entire bible in all bibles". The other three bibles all populate but the NKJV does not. I turned off "all bibles" and just turned on NKJV and it still would not populate. Is there another preference that I should look at?

    Thanks for the response.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing: in the screenshot below, if I want the "John Bible Study" filter to show, I need 1) that "Visual Filters" is checked on (as it is currently) AND 2) that "John Bible Study" be checked on as well (it is not currently). From what you wrote it sounds like "search in all Bibles" is the name of your filter (or did you give another name?) which you generated by clicking on "Save as Visual Filter" after doing your search, is that right?

    Francess,

The name of my Visual Filter is Word Filter. It has a preference line for me to chk all resources or all bibles or a particular bible as part of Logos promulgated application. I tried to find how to get to the screen shot you pasted above on my Logos and Im sorry to say that I couldn't find that view in my logos.

I took a screen shot but I did not know how to attache it to this response. It doesn't attach as a ;picture but as a file location.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Is this what you mean?

If so, this is the actual Visual Filter document. The option I described earlier is in the NKJV resource window.

To insert a screenshot into a message, 1) save the screenshot as an image file on your computer (e.g., JPEG) 2) click on the paperclip icon at the top of the message window on the forums 3) click on "From Computer" at the top; 4) click on "choose file" and select your file 5) click on the "Insert" button at the bottom to complete the insertion.

    Francis,

Yes, it is the actual Visual Filter document.  I saw the triangle bible option discussed above and I looked at it for all 4 of my primary bibles.  The option to see or check "Visual filters" and then "Word Filter" appears in my ESV and NET bibles.  That option does not appear in my NKJV or NASB. Sorry but I tried to attache the screen shot but kept getting an offline error.

There is sometimes a delay (I don't know why) before the whole list of options under visual filters appears in a resource. If in the visual filter document, the option for "in"  is "All Bibles", it should normally show in all Bibles indeed where there is a match. So, assuming that you have already confirmed that it is so, have you given a bit of time for the visual filter list (the three dots button) to populate completely in the NASB and NKJV windows? You may have to click on it, check, then if not, wait a bit (10-15 seconds) and click on it again (but don't close the Bible window in between). I apologize if what I suggest are things you have done already. I just want to make sure we have the bases covered.

As for the posting of screenshots errors, I am not sure what is the cause. What operating system do you use? Also, with regard to your question above, what version of Logos do you use?

    Francis,

I gave it time and the NASB and NKJV did not populate.  The ESV and NET populate immediately.  I think its a bug.  I use a Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.3 (most recent).  I use Logos 6 all updated.

I will send Logos an email about the bug.

Good idea, sorry I could not help you solve the problem. There seems to be a number of problems coming up in relation to Macs lately. I use Windows. Other Mac users may be able to indicate if they have the same problem.

I think its a bug. (...) I will send Logos an email about the bug.

To me, it rather sounds like a broken index. Try rebuild index (the command may take some hours to execute).

    Mike,

Thanks for the help and the response.  I was getting an error message.  I am going rebuild the indexes.

    Thanks,

    Todd
