What is it?

Master the tools and resources of Logos Bible Software with video tutorials from the Logos Pro team. Learn to navigate lexicons, use the Passage Guide for in-depth research, consult cross-references in ancient literature, and much more. Logos Training Videos give you powerful insight into Logos Bible Software’s seemingly endless features. Pause when you need a break, work at your own pace, and see how Logos can take your research to the next level.

How does it work?

The Logos Pro Training Videos can be accessed within Logos Now's Media Browser or the Media Search. Within the Media Browser, you can filter by the "Logos Training Videos" collection, search for logos functionality such as the passage guide, inline search, and lexicon outlining, or simply type help into the search bar.

This is a great feature to have within Logos.

These are a Logos Now feature - but available from the blog and the reading list Logos  System References and Blog Training

These videos are public videos, you can view them without having Logos Now.

Soo.. the only advantage is we can search them through Media Browser??

Correct. The videos are free and accessible to anyone. They are regularly sent out in emails, are posted to the blog, and are available on the Logos Video Tour Page

The advantage is that you don't have to go looking for them, but you have them right there in your software. Also, and more importantly, each of the videos is tagged according to the content, features, biblical passages, and resources used throughout the video.

As you can see in the image above, you can search in the media search or filter in the media browser according to biblical things, concepts, people and more. This is helpful if you're studying a specific passage that we've covered in a video, want to know how certain features of the software are put into practice and more.

This feature is just a little enhancement to make using the content and the software a bit easier!

Are these supposed to pull up in Biblia or play within the software?

They do not play within the software. Since the videos are as large as they are, downloading them locally would be prohibitive. They are designed to play outside of the software. I have found that some play on localcloud and others play on biblia. I'm not sure if they will all eventually play in the same place.

Don't the MP videos (quickstart) download within the software temporarily? Are they much bigger than those or the DIY Bible Study series?

Yes, the MP quickstart videos and the DIY Bible Study series videos all download to and play within the software. At the moment there are about 70 Logos Pro Videos searchable in the database with about 3–5 more that are getting ready to be pushed into the database as well. The file size is anywhere from 150–350MB/each. All together, I think we're up to 11.5GB for the videos, and we add about 1–5 new videos a week. This—I would think—would slow down the program and take up unnecessary hard drive space.

Oh, I was under the impression that the MP and DIY videos essentially "streamed" unless you downloaded the media and required an always on connection to play otherwise. Is that not the case?

They're automatically cached after they're streamed. You can then play them offline. I don't believe you choose to download the media on the desktop software (other than by playing the video to prime the cache).

I haven't watched them but there used to be a way to "Download Media" Can't remember how you did it though. Perhaps that has since changed, this was back when L6 first launched.

You're right. There's a "Download all media" on the resource menu.

Ah yes, that is what it is. Hmm, perhaps a streaming function should be built in. Seems to me that would be the best way to go? H.264 anyone?

A streaming option might be good. I don't want to lose the videos I've downloaded.
