[resolved] Design issue or major tagging issue: Concordance

In Watts, Isaac. The Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts. Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1998. we have an unusual situation that creates bizarre results.

Background: the Psalters of the BCP are generally the Coverdale translation. In the context menu one gets a standard chapter/verse reference. In metrical psalters In the metrical psalter of Keble, Keble, J. The Psalter, or Psalms of David: In English Verse. Fourth Edition. Oxford; London: James Parker and Co., 1869. one also gets a standard chapter/verse references. However, the metrical psalter of Isaac Watts lacks the milestone tagging.

This results in a bizarre situation of a concordance run on Watts, Isaac. The Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts. Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1998.

any psalm that paraphrases the entire psalm does not appear in the cross reference - the psalm is tagged with neither reference nor milestone.
any psalm that paraphrases only a portion of the psalm is tagged with references not milestone for the included verse which results in those verse being included in the concordance.

The Concordance is working as intended. A reference is shown in the Concordance if and only if it's tagged in the resource.

You can report missing references via Report Typo.

Er..ah... there are not missing references, there are missing milestones and what should be milestones treated as references. Either the tagging needs to be straightened out OR the concordance has to handle whatever tagging rules are adopted in a reasonable manner.

The Concordance doesn't show milestones.

I believe there is a misunderstanding?

The "Reference" concordance is a concordance of references made in the resource, not references as in milestones. To clarify, it at one point was named internally "Works Cited". So for a standard resource, you probably won't see that many hits, but for something like a sermon archive you'll see a lot more, since those tend to refer to other works more frequently.

Your second screenshot shows in Concordance because they're linked. The last screenshot doesn't because it's just resource text.

You're close Dylan. As Bradley suggested I reported the same problem pointed towards Kyle. I would not expect to see thereferences in the concordance because they should not be treated as references. They are milestones erroneously coded as references. It the equivalent of running a concordance on the Psalms in The Message, limiting it to surface text and getting many Psalms references - there should be none.

The "bible book names" in the TOC are part of the heading and the resource doesn't appear to have any milestones as there is no reference box! So the bible references in the second screen shot are the only ones for the concordance.

EDIT: seeing your response above and reading the thread you reference, I'll let Kyle decide if there is a tagging problem!

The Psalter has bible milestones but no bible references for the Concordance. But its Words should (I don't have the text) be shown within the context of that milestone, as with Words in a bible. It's interesting that the Words & Bible References of The 365 Day Devotional Commentary are shown in the context of the bible milestone as opposed to Day of the Year!
