I can undelete documents from the online depository, but not delete them ...

If you hover over a document entry you will get an "Actions" popup with delete being one of the options

This will change the status to "deleted" and remove from desktop / mobile apps but it will still be shown on the documents website (as deleted)

... and how do I show more than the 20 hits per page?

I'm not aware of any way to do this

    Regards,

Welcome to the forums. That is not currently possible as it would defeat the purpose of an off-site backup for your files.

Through trial-and-error I've ended up with some documents that don't need to be backed up indefinitely. [:$]

Other cloud storage let us delete files that we know we don't want/need to keep around. It seems like the inability to remove a FL deleted document from their cloud is an omission, rather than a "feature."

If deleting a deleted file is still "risky" from management's view, then FL could mark it pending to be deleted in, say, 30 days.

In this situation, these really are unedited private copies of public documents, so there is no downside of getting rid of them for good from my deleted documents. If I ever decided I did want them again, I'd just make another local copy of the original from its Faithlife group.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

I love the logos software.. it's amazing.. but What a shady practice for a Christian bible software company to totally disregard the rights for users to delete their personally uploaded content. what a shameful act when even the secular world understands and respects this fundamental privacy element being a concern for their users..

Welcome to the forums. However, "shady" and "shameful" is language which is inappropriate as it is standard practice for all computer systems that allow for the recovery of lost data. The main difference is whether or not they are transparent that the data is still in storage - both for personal recovery and for company recovery from a catastrophic situation - earthquake, Tsutsumi, fire ... I prefer Faithlife's transparency and their solid data recovery method. I hope you do not have private material that has legal consequences stored. If you do, I would overwrite it as well as delete it to make it another layer of effort for a hacker to find.

No downside? It adds considerable coding for the storage and recovery routines. For something as critical as data recovery, I strongly prefer that Logos stick with the tried and true. I have no problem with Logos hiding the files from the user although I prefer the current transparency.

Regardless of data recovery issues, it should left to the consumer to make the decision.  Most of the major cloud storage services allow the user to delete files permanently if they choose to do so. Microsoft OneDrive, Apple iCloud, Google Drive all make accommodations for deleting and archiving files.  Normally, they will place deleted files in an archive folder for a certain amount of time, and then delete them permanently when this time period has elapsed.  Even then they give you the opportunity to clean out the archived folder whenever you want to.  In short, files you no longer want can be deleted whenever you want.  And it seems to me that Logos should give the user this same opportunity.  Otherwise, you will end up with numerous files that continue to clutter the folder that are useless to the user.  For example, every file in my documents folder (82 in total) are useless to me. They were created when I was playing around with the software and learning its features.  I do not want them archived for recovery.  But my only option is to have them listed permanently as "deleted" with an option to "undelete" them. It would be nice to see a "delete permanently" option listed in the popup menu.  This would be relatively simple to implement with a few changes to the website code.

P.S. It would be nice to have an archive feature in the software that allows users to turn off the backup feature and/or move it to a folder on the user's personal computer.

Welcome to the forums. I know there are many who agree with your but speaking for myself, I have no interest in Logos investing the significant resources and in adopting the significant increase in failure points -- I have far more pressing requests that would enhance my Bible study.

    I recognize MJ's points.

But from L4 onwards, FL has basically taken ownership (I think user agreements) of user data. Unless they changed it. That's why I only leave trash data on Logos, for the last 14 years. Empty the trash now and then. Not theirs for the taking. User privacy has never been a priority for FL, beyond cc's.
