Steve Jobs just introduced the iPad. It runs iPhone OS, which means you'll be able to run Logos 4 on it!
Oh boy!!!
within a year you will be saying, "thankfully no flash" just like most say "thankfully no real audio" now.
So true, Kevin. [Y]
Just read a tweet by someone who said his response to the complaint that ipad won't support flash, "That's not a downfall, it's a feature."
*marred by lack of flash. within a year you will be saying, "thankfully no flash" just like most say "thankfully no real audio" now. With HTML 5 it is not needed and Youtube uses it, safari and chrome do as well. IE and FF should and likely will soon.

the ipad is a kewl gadget. dont' get me wrong. but not being able to make calls and not having a camera and not having flash, and only being able to load apps that Apple approved (itunes), these negatived are overwhelmingly a reason for me not to dive into it right now.
because the ipad is not an ereader. it is not a tablet PC either. E-papaer, ereaders have black and white screens on purpose. they have no backlight on purpose; for better extended
It's an eReader by my definition. It's book shaped and electronic and I can read books on it.
B&W on purpose? Isn't it because the e-paper can't do color yet?
The lack of backlight (or frontlight) is one reason I don't have a kindle. That and the speed and the B&W.
Now the iPad's not perfect, but 10 hours of reading on one charge is enough for me. The glossy screen on the other hand might be an annoyance.
Plus Logos runs on it. That's the trump card. For me.
If someone wants to be able to use their entire library and needs to be online at the same time, I'd think they'd be better off getting a netbook and a monthly wireless Internet subscription service. I don't know if an XP Netbook is enough to run Logos 4 (I have XP on a Pentium 660 with 3GB RAM, and it's a little slow - but not as slow as the iPhone app), so one might want a small notebook with Windows 7 and more RAM. For $829 one should be able to get a decent Windows 7 notebook with a 10" screen that will have far more capabilities than the iPad, and you'll be able to run the full program and all your library, not just the ones for the iPhone.
I have the PC version of LOGOS 4. I am possibly interested in getting an IPAD. Will my PC version of LOGOS interface in the 'cloud' with the IPAD, or do I have to be a full fledged MAC user for the IPAD to work with the LOGOS app?
Works fine if you are a PC user. That is what I use.
Blessings
Todd, can you tell me if the Logos version for the ipad comes with any commentaries like Matthew Henry's? Can you respond to me via my email at mcallbee@gmail.com.
Thanks,Mark
Logos user since 1995
Hi Mark - and welcome to the forums.
The product pages show if resources are available for the iPad by use of an iPhone icon (shown highlighted in red below)
So, Matthew Henry's commentary is available.
(There have been reported cases where this tagging is not completely up to date but this is the official way of determining resource availability for the iPad)
Hope this helps
Graham
