Logos has begun the process of releasing the updated writings of Ellen White. They now have the timeline flag next to them, and table of contents.

Where do you see this? Can you provide a screenshot please? :)

Martin, have you noticed some of the inappropriate comments being made on the new EGW Lifeworks Collection product page? I've tried responding to them, but it won't let me. Very frustrating. Any time I try responding, it says "There was a problem submitting your reply. Please try again." Anyway, if Logos is going to allow these inappropriate posts on that product page they should at least allow responses. If they won't allow responses, they shouldn't allow the inappropriate posts either. I flagged them as inappropriate, maybe others here can do the same until they are removed.

It is usually a waste of time Tim. If you want to respond, then click on the individual's name which opens up faithlife website and you can respond to their review.

Here is my answer to one of them.

The write up comes from the publisher.

Logos is not in the business of determining what is orthodox, evangelical etc. I have stuff that I do not agree with either. When you go to a book store you choose (what you consider to be the best) and leave the rest. If individuals do not know what to buy, then they should consult with someone in authority to help them choose.

Run this search depending on the size and content of your library, ("shea, william" OR "hasel, G") in your library and see the results.

I should have added that these are two Adventist theologians who are reknown and respected in their fields.

Those who are not Adventist search for auss (Andrews University Seminary Studies) across your library and see the results.

I just tried this and this does not work either. Logos either has a bug in their website or they have disabled responses to these specific posts for some reason. Strange.

Lynden, did you get my first question in my previous post? It was directed at you, FYI. :) A screenshot would be nice. Thanks brother!

Lynden Williams:

I have stuff that I do not agree with either.

But that is where the FUN begins.  Follow their discussions.  Can you find where they take their first wrong step? [If they are wrong there must be a wrong step somewhere!]

Following their discussions is much better than taking someone else's word for what they say.

One case: the enemies [someone else's word] say that they 'TO' while they [the 'stuff' that 'we' do not agree with but written by them directly] say that they 'THROUGH'.  Find out what they really say and many of the arguments against 'them' fall apart.  And that is why some of us need things in our library that we do not [currently] agree with. We just might be wrong.

On the other hand if you are absolutely positive that you are right in every detail then don't ever read any thing that 'you do not agree with'.

We are expecting that the various bugs in the EGW Lifeworks (including lack of many of the covers will be fixed in the updating now in process).

BTW, we are continuing to work on getting AUSS. Nothing will happen until their committee meets after GC Session. I've had a number of emails on that project this week. I'm extremely eager with you to see this product in the SDA Logos library.

@Tim, thanks for flagging that product page. I'll post something there. It's hard to know how to respond to some of what is said about SDAs. Sadly, much of it is deserved, I fear. There are some awful, legalistic promoters of our message. They have caused me much more grief during my 44 years of ministry than people outside our church, even in my work as an evangelist.

The sabbatarians in Christ's day had Him crucified. Not much has changed in these last days for some of our most fervent SDA colleagues. We all have our own wounds from their attacks, I'm sure.

That said, we also have some wonderful, wonderful people and our doctrines can/should/must be expressed in a grace-based manner. All of them shine forth in the kingdom of grace, beginning with the Sabbath. Visit my website www.sda4me.com (it's also in Logos now--I've dedicated any royalties for the benefit of poor pastors around the world).

Summarizing: we SDAs need to understand what is meant in John 1:16: "The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

I'm unable to reply either to the EGW product page. Our IT people say this has been a known issue for other product pages as well that they thought had been fixed. Apparently further issues remain. I'll await further news from them and update you with any word from them.

I am seeing the table of contents, page numbers changed and Bible verses tagged/linked, so those are all good improvements! :) Is there any way to prioritize the conflict of the ages series, Martin? As I know those are some of the most well-used books in all her writings. So far as I can tell, none of these books have been updated yet, but quite a few others have! :) This screenshot is from volume 6 of the Testimonies to the Church series, where you can see some of the updates in action! :) Exciting!

Lynden Williams:

I had to pay extra for that feature, Lynden! Wink Just kidding of course. I only see book covers for a couple of books.

Martin, I'm a little concerned about this update, as now my search of all of Ellen White's writings are only returning results from the updated resources instead of her complete writings. I did a simple test and searched for the word "Jesus" and it is not showing any results from Desire of Ages or Steps to Christ, which is obviously not correct.

Notice in my screenshot, I'm searching all her writings, but it says only 48 resources are turning up results. Although I'm excited about these new resources being updated, I'm a little worried about it crippling our search abilities in the meantime. Do you have any idea what's going on with this?

If this is just a temporary setback, that's understandable, but if it still isn't going to be until October (as you recently mentioned) until it's all done, then I would almost rather wait for a complete update all at once instead of a gradual update that disables search. I don't know, just thinking out loud here. If there's a quick fix then obviously that would be even better! :) Either way I am still very appreciative for all that is being done for this exciting initiative!

Martin Weber:

I finally have a definitive answer as to when the Ellen G. White Lifeworks will be completely interlinked and downloadable: unfortunately in October, five months from now.
