TIP of the day: Events in the life of a Biblical person

Logos provides us with several interconnected tools to trace the events in the life of an individual. Some of the newer tools are sparsely populated and need users to actually use them and to press Faithlife to create more.

Factbook and connected tools

1. Navigate Tools ==> Bible Reference ==Factbook to open a Factbook panel.

2. Enter the name of a Biblical character - I am using Esau as the example. Be sure to use the person icon to guide you to Esau the person.

There are two sections in the Factbook that provide information on the event of the person's life: Events and the Timeline section of See Also.

2. In the events section, a mouse-over the event name will bring up a brief information box on the event.

3. In the Event section, clicking on the name of the event will switch you to the Factbook entry for the event. Note: using the left pointing arrow at the top right of the panel will return you to the previous page i.e. Esau.

4. At the bottom of the Events section of Factbook, is an option to open the interactive resource the Bible Event Navigator. Two items to note:

• Final node always contain a Bible reference. If there is no Bible reference then the section can be expanded.
• Factbook and the Navigator use the same information but Factbook does not display the hierarchical structure.

5. Moving to the See Also section, you will see that the events in the timeline can be multiple entries compared to the Biblical Event Navigator (early and late suggested dates) or they can be combined entries (blessings for Isaac and Esau).

6. If one clicks on the title of the event in the See Also: timeline section the timeline will be open to the event. You may need to set Subject o "Biblical Events" to reduce clutter.

7. Mouse over on the event in the Timeline will give you an information pane that includes the references to the books giving this date.
