Logos 6.4 (6.4.0.0037) available for download

We have temporarily removed the 6.4 update for Mac while we investigate a solution for the broken Dock icon. If you have already updated to 6.4 and are not able to launch the program from your dock, please open the software from either the Applications folder, Spotlight or Launchpad.

If you have automatic updates turned on, 6.4 will be downloaded automatically the next time your system checks for updates. To install it right away, enter the Update Now command.

Release Notes

This release features:

Logos Now: Added a new Systematic Theology section to the default Passage Guide, structured similarly to the Grammars section.
Logos Now: Added a new interactive, The New Testament Manuscript Explorer, that allows you to filter all the extant manuscript evidence according to type of manuscript, contents, date, textual family, and more.
Logos Now: Volume 2 of Narrative Character Maps Interactive adds maps of Abraham, Isaac and the events depicted in 1 Samuel.
Logos Now: Volume 2 of Before and After: Biblical Sites Interactive adds 4 new images.
The Information tool has been revamped, granting much better display and control over the information provided.
Added the option to save Highlights in Resource-specific notes files. This allows you to view all highlights on a particular resource in one Note, regardless of style used.
Numerous bug and crash fixes.

Note: Mac users that have the alias shortcut on their Dock (small black arrow in the corner) will need to launch the application from the Applications folder once, which will replace the Dock icon. Otherwise, the application will fail to launch properly. After the icon has been replaced, Logos can open from the Dock normally.

Understandable! Sorry that wasn't properly called out from the beginning.

Essentially, the bad Dock icon contains an old framework that we later changed (for the better). Unfortunately, the old Dock can't be changed to point to the correct framework without running the update, so you need to run from the Applications folder (which automatically gets the new version).

This is a one-time requirement. After running from the Applications folder once, the Dock will be perfectly usable. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I'm running Logos on a mac and since the free Logos Cloud trial I've had an alias as the Logos icon. Today with this release I started Logos with the alias icon. I was able to download the new version up to 100%, but it suddenly reverts back to 0% seconds later and begins to download again. It did this 5 times or so and then I saw this thread and I decided to start the program in Finder instead of the alias. I've had the same results opening from finder (loaded to 100% twice now).

What do I do?

I'm running Logos on a mac and since the free Logos Cloud trial I've had an alias as the Logos icon.

Running Logos Cloud should be unrelated to the alias symbol. It was a change made to the 6.3 builds, but 6.4 fixes it.

What do I do?

Please manually download the engine and install that way. I am not sure why the direct links aren't posted above, but you should be able to get a link via your purchase history.

If that doesn't work, please create a new thread.

It seems that the 6.4 update fixed the problem with the "services" menu not working in Word 2011 and Pages (Replace with Passage), however, now the "Copy and Paste Bible Verses" no longer works from Logos 6 to copy and paste verses directly to MS Word 2011 or Pages. I hate to be critical because I'm sure it's difficult to keep up with updates to both the Windows and Mac versions, but it seems like testing for the Mac has slipped.

Please fix this. [:(]

Read you post, I did a test to see I have the same issue for both MS Word 2011 and Word 2016 Preview. Sorry, I copied and pasted a couple of verses from ESV, it seems to be OK. These are the versions that I have on my MacBookPro. Are you on the same version?

I haven't tested the "copy and paste" tool with the Office 2016 Preview since I have the Preview loaded on a non-production Mac. My version of Word 2011 is the latest as you indicated. Perhaps I need to clarify a bit: The "copy" tool from Logos 6 works to send verses to the clipboard, and if I do a "Command V" it copies to my Word or Pages document. However, it's the "copy and paste" tool that is no longer working to directly copy from Logos 6 to Word 2011 or Pages. Note that it was working prior to Logos 6.4. As I stated in my original post, the 6.4 update did repair the services menu "replace with passage" so that it's working again. I just did a test with the latest Yosemite update (10.10.4) and it's still not working as it should.

I am having the same problem as Charles, only in my case I am using Pages. The copy works, but not the Copy and Paste. Neither is exhibiting "button" behavior so I only know that when I click on copy it worked after I have gone back to Pages and used "Command-V" to paste. I use KJV 1900 if that makes any difference.
