I'm looking at getting a new desktop computer in the next month.  Primary use would be for Logos.  I'm looking for what other users recommend.  It would be a Windows computer.

Thanks

Here is what Logos recommends.

However it functions ok with lesser hardware.

Do not skim on the Ram and a Ssd will make a world of difference, even if you only have 4GB of Ram like me.

Here's a link to a thread I started after recently building a new PC:

I'm very happy with this PC. There's nothing about it that I'd change.

When I last upgraded my computer last year I considered a SSD a must. I swapped out the the new HDD that came with the new laptop and put it in my wife's laptop. I can't believe how much more sluggish Logos is on her machine which has an i7 processor and lots of RAM.

Surface Pro (I have the first generation and they have only gotten better). When docked with external monitor and mouse it is a robust desktop solution plus I have the portability of having my entire Logos library and functionality with me when I sit in the pew interacting with a sermon or sitting in a seminary classroom or in my quiet place where I commune with the Lord each morning.

I'd check out the frequent sales deals once you get a handle on your specs. Lenovo runs lots of specials and so do other makers. If you want a bargain, there's lots of refurbs out there that will shave off a Benjamin or more  on the average desktop.

If you don't mind Lenovo,  I bought a laptop for 299 tax free 6 GB RAM  and a 500 GB hard drive.  I'm looking forward to installing Logos and see how it'll work.  The reason I chose a laptop is because of portability.  I really don't want to be tied up to a desktop even at home but then again that's just my personal preference .

Thanks for all the ideas.  I'm also going to see what the back to school sales have to offer.

I also have a Surface Pro 3 with a 256gb ssd. It also has an i7 processor. I have found it to be an excellent buy as it works really well as a pad, laptop and desktop replacement. I link it to two other screens and it is great.

Hello Ronald

I know that I am dating myself, but I have been a PC guy since back in 1989 when i built my first computer it was a 16 bit intel 80286. It was a MS DOS only. This year i finally came out of the dark ages and got the first Mac..

At first i researched about 8 months looking for the best Windows laptop for my needs and mainly running Logos, but ending up with a Mac in stead. One reason was that i did not want to out grow for the next five years or more.

I went with a 15" MacBook Pro it is a desktop replacement with quad core i7 and could run three ext monitors. The only thing i wish i had done was to get 512GB ssd instead of the 256gb.

But I am now sold on the Mac. it runs great. I do carry it in a backpack almost every day but it nice having my full Logos with me.
