TIP of the day: Announcement and question

I have updated the Reading List for the Tips of the Day. It should be up to date although I have not proof-read it.

We have enough tips now for me to want some feedback:

what tips do you find most useful? least useful?
is the repetition of old answers (weekend oldies, redux) and/or the collection of recent answers (best answers) useful?
what areas would you like to see emphasized in future tips?

The power user type of tips because I generally know the most of the basics, though I really appreciate how thorough your tips are and can't offer much criticism at all :-) I feel there is something for everyone in your posts

If I HAD to choose something less useful, it would be denomination/tradition specific content, though I STILL benefit from this type of tips and I'm SURE people in that denomination/tradition benefit from it too

Yes I have learned tidbits from the oldies and found the best answers to also be great way to see some informative Q&A interactions

what areas would you like to see emphasized in future tips?

I'd like to see some tips on using the software for research with examples where an end is in view and then demonstrations on how to get there and all the discoveries along the way. For instance... today while studying _____ I needed to find out if _____ was exegetically sound so I used this tool, this guide, this search, this interactive, and now I am more confident in my stance on _____.

I know it maybe walking a fine line with the forum guidelines of not discussing theological differences but maybe the examples could be carefully chosen to be ecumenical? Just a thought.

I have benefitted from some of the tips but the sheer number of them has somewhat overwhelmed my time constraints so rather than being able to spend five or ten minutes looking in detail at one I have to skim many.

As I have hinted elsewhere; I would be much more appreciative of a 'Tip of the Day' rather than a load of 'Tips of the Day'. Like most medicine a lot of the effectiveness is bound up with the delivery mechanism.

For me it would be nice to have the tips in a single thread I can then subscribe to so I can view new ones when I have time in my mail client.

Feature highlights with example usage are really helpful to me as a novice user. Techniques are helpful too.The advanced feature tips often show me features and techniques I was not even aware existed!

I eagerly pounce on anything with "tip" in the title, M.J. Not all of them fit my needs, (some I know, some go 'way over my head) but I have learned useful procedures that I probably would not have learned any other way.

I read most of your tips MJ. Thanks so much for your commitment to do this.

I most appreciate tips that focus on specific examples of using Logos to do study.

I would be much more appreciative of a 'Tip of the Day' rather than a load of 'Tips of the Day'.

Because my home life is very hectic at this time, it may take a bit of time to see the results of your feedback. However, I have changed the weekend oldies to a single entry - still 5 old posts but all related to a single issue. This will make weekends have only 2 posts - one best of the week and one oldies revolving around a single feature.

Mike, I'll not let teasing bother me ... after all I am the "baby" of my family by 6 years so I've had my share of teasing. But I think a more collected approach to the oldies may have some benefits. We'll see if those benefits outweigh the benefits of a variety of topics.

It may be difficult for some, like me, who do not have the time right now and in the foreseeable future to take advantage of your work, to give feedback on it. Do not take it as a measure of lack of interest or satisfaction. No matter what, your substantial efforts to benefit the community of Logos users are greatly appreciated.

Where can this be found?

1. "type reading list" in the command box

2. then click the option that pops up "Show Reading Lists"

3. Find MJ's list in the "Recent lists" section (or you can also just search for her name in the find box)

4. Click on the list title link and you will see all of the "Tip of the day" posts in order as requested.

5. Then Check the box of the one you've read it will cause Logos to display it in the "Open Lists" section of the Reading List tool, and you can also choose to display the "Recent lists" on the home screen if you'd like.

Ps. the other lists MJ has created are also very thorough and beneficial compiling a plethora of information all organized very thoughtfully to aid in understanding the various things Logos has, does, and is used for.
