The iPad Pro will run iOS, not the desktop OS X, so it will run the mobile app.

If you are looking for a similar product to the MSFT Surface, look HERE. Don't have coffee in your mouth at the time.

They are right of course but Logos Now customers have access to a web app this is getting closer and closer to desktop like functionality but it is a web app. So you would need connectivity to use it, but I would bet it will run pretty sweetly on the iPad pro.  9.7 is enough for me.

What I am wanting for an iOS app is the ability to do word search, use passage guide, exegetical guide, text comparison and other features OFFLINE! Yes, ideally I'd like to be using my Mac. HOWEVER, there are times I would like to NOT have to pull it out or bring it everywhere, but instead be able to use those features offline with the resources I have downloaded to my iPad or iPhone. I would love to get the iPad Pro someday (I just have to save up for it), but even on my iPhone 6 Plus I would like to use those features offline. There WAS a time when I could use passage guide or Bible Word Study offline, but a few years ago they changed that. That made me angry and frustrated. I don't always have access to high speed internet and sometimes data is VERY slow. If I am on an iPad (or iPhone in an area with no data), I would like to still be able to do Bible Study without HAVING to always bring my Mac. I hope that Faithlife/Logos creates an app with more functionality (even offline) for iOS devices, but especially for larger screens (such as iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, larger iPads including the new iPad Plus). I especially would like a much fuller app for the iPad Plus since it has a lot more power than (possibly) my 6 year old Mac, so I do not see why the Logos app on an iPad Plus could not have at least 50% functionality of the Logos desktop app (including offline usability with the resources I will download to the iPad).

Why an "iPad Pro" specific app won't happen: There won't be a significant number of Logos users buying it. Why should FL waste their time and resources?

I think the iPad Pro looks to be an amazing device... but in my opinion, it is a niche device and primarily for product creation rather than consumption... The rest of the iPad lineup is more for consumption than creation.

I do believe that at some point OS X and iOS will merge. I have no idea how long that will take. Maybe more than a decade. Maybe much sooner. Who knows.

That was a very prescient warning. You saved my keyboard.

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.

Faithlife Corp. owes the MVPs free resources for life.

I agree with you about FL not focusing on the iPad Pro and making a specific version just for it, like Adobe did in the demo at the keynote on Sept 9th. But I think we can expect that FL will steadily improve the mobile apps as the hardware technology increases. Perhaps the leap that the iPad Pro made in performance will push that along a little faster. Smile I hope that one day we will have a robust enough mobile app that we could do all our sermon prep on a iPad or iPad Pro or Android tablet.

Yes. My comment was only about an "iPad Pro" specific app.

like Adobe did in the demo at the keynote on Sept 9th.

One of the key markets for the iPad Pro will be "pro" users: Graphic Designers, Photographers, Videographers, Editors, etc. I have a <little> bit of background in that world, and I can drool over the iPad Pro. The "Logos using" side of me, however, has no use for the device. I was disappointed that the iPad Air 3 didn't make its debut. My current iPad is the "iPad 3" and is getting too close to being obsolete. Perhaps next year I will be able to get a new device.

I am in the same boat... works fine for me for the most part except i wish i had more storage and wish it was lighter (I know it isn;t super heavy but that half pound lighter the new ones are would be nice)....

Ditto Caleb. I am very disappointed that Logos Mobile App is so limited. I bought an iPad Air 2 two weeks ago expecting that I would have full access to my Logos 6 and Noet libraries. Very disappointed that I cannot even access my formatted collections. Then when I began having trouble with being able to download books to read offline, I decided this setup wasn't working for me. I returned the iPad yesterday and will wait until Logos beefs up its App. Hope I don't have to wait too long

We're working very actively to update both the server and mobile sides of our platform to enable more of the desktop features on mobile devices. This also serves http://app.logos.com where you'll changes more frequently (since we don't have to queue them up and submit them to Apple's store review process in batches!)

We intend to support the iPad Pro (with the mobile, not desktop, app).

So, is it Apple's responsibility to create an IPad Pro that runs their laptop operating systems or is it Logos' responsibility to create a full feature version that runs on IOS?

Neither...they both can do what they choose to do....but what we can say is both companies will continue to move forward in their product development - its in both of their best interests to keep us as continued customers.

Hi

Sorry to troll and revive-  but starting a new thread is superfluous.

I'm currently hunting for new hardware with a better usage experience.

Since the hardware is there in the iPad Pro, its not impossible for a more desktop-like functionality.

If Logos cant task a section of programmers to do this---how about crowdfunding?  That is--if Logos would be willing to allow coders access to subroutines, etc (after a NDA of course.)

(and no--I haven't coded since 1990- so I'm not fishing for a job/money)

Apple frameworks for iOS => https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/Miscellaneous/Conceptual/iPhoneOSTechOverview/iPhoneOSFrameworks/iPhoneOSFrameworks.html lack Carbon and Cocoa frameworks that macOS has => https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/MacOSX/Conceptual/OSX_Technology_Overview/SystemFrameworks/SystemFrameworks.html

Faithlife applications for macOS use Cocoa for Graphical User Interface (GUI). Hence lack of Cocoa framework (and AppKit.framework) for iOS apps prevents existing macOS application from running on any iOS device, including iPad Pro.

Thankful for Faithlife development proceeding on Logos Web App and Verbum Web App with discussions in Logos Web App forum.

Keep Smiling Smile

I thought because the Ipad Pro 12.9 had plenty of screen space accompanied with 256GB, that it would support the desk top version of Logos. I  am canceling my order for the Ipad 12.9 tomorrow. I really need to use the desktop version of Logos when I attend classes in church and abroad. It's hard to understand why technology lags today.  I have tried bringing my 14" laptop to church. It's too clumsy. I have a 4" Ipad and I make attempts to use Logos on it; however, I cannot  take advantage of the search tools and many other Logos tools that would be great to carry around in a larger Ipad. My dreams seem too futuristic. I am glad I checked out this blog. I am wondering if the desktop version of Logos would work on some other tablet? Is it true with them all?

I don't think anyone is asking for Mac OS to run on IPad Pro. What we are asking is why isn't Logos developing their Bible Software App for IOS to function with more of the same attributes as their desktop App. Why aren't they working on it. If they are why aren't they letting their customers know.
