How long before Logos 7?

The Beta for 6.7 launches next week, and a new major release is scheduled for every six weeks. So, if the timetable stays consistent we would be looking at sometime in February 2016. Of course, this is not an official answer. Just simple math.

Version numbers aren't decimal numbers. They are integers separated by dots, so we will likely see versions 6.9, 6.10, 6.11, 6.12, etc. Hopefully, we won't see version 7 for many many more months.

In the past that hasn't been the case. I've never seen a release of Logos move past "X.9", have you?

Well Logos 6 released Oct 2014, I wouldn't expect one before Oct 2016, but could be wrong....

No, but they haven't been releasing point updates every six weeks either. I think Randy is correct, we'll see point versions past 6.9.
Last month, Bob didn't sound like Logos 7 was right around the corner:

Logos Now certainly has some things that could be part of Logos 7 -- specific new content, etc.

I don't look for Logos 7 until Fall 2016, and why would I want it any earlier? We get new features every six weeks for free. I am not in a rush to give my money away on a new base package or crossgrade!

Not that I recall, but Randy is correct. In software nomenclature 6.x will never numerically add up to 7.0John Kight said:Randy W. Sims said:Version numbers aren't decimal numbers. I really do hope that Logos Now subscribers will have a special deal for LOGOS 7 since we are the "premium" LOGOS 7 "beta" testers haha.
but seriously, I do enjoy Logos Now!

[Y] Yeah, as much as I'd love to be able, there is no way I could afford a full base package upgrade every year. Two years minimum. Logos Now would loose much of its value on a cycle of less than 2 years: Why would you subscribe if you only have to wait 12 months? I strongly prefer 2-3 year cycle, esp given the constant updates of Logos Now.

I'm with you guys! I guess I was just confused with the way things have functioned in the past.

I think it highly likely there will be a Logos 6.10 and Logos 6.11, etc.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Since Logos Now is only 3-4 months old and they have the annual subscription option, then i think it would be safe to say that there wil definitely be a 6.1X

It hasn't been the case in the past, but we've never done a release every six weeks before, either. More frequent incremental updates means that we use up version numbers faster, too.
No official word yet on exactly when we'll change over from 6.x to 7.x (and I wouldn't be the one to say in any event), but I do know that we don't have to stop at 6.9. The minor version number is just a counter, like Randy says.

According to the farmers almanac it will be released sometime between now and when it comes out!!!

I would settle for an October 2016 release
as much as I would love more books, right now I couldn't afford an upgrade.

Most people need time to recover before diving into a new release that more than likely also comes along with a cost (new base packages, crossgrades, resources, etc.).
Logos Now will do for the time being. No extreme rush for L7.

I admit that I would like to Logos/Verbum 6+ base packages. Ok, so I'm mostly interested in potential Verbum 6+ packages...

The base packages always get a bit of a reshuffle, which means that gold from this time will not be gold from next time in terms of the bundled resources. This is worth considering if there is a package you like a lot now. It may not exist later.

or resources may take four years to come back (e.g. NIGTC and PNTC). They were removed from BP but later on came back as part of a BP.

I think this is a pretty wise strategy to keep us interested.

That is exactly what happened to me on the release of Logos 6. I had just upgraded to a larger base package in Logos 5 when L6 came out. I had the option of returning the purchase within the 30 day window. When I saw the resources that were removed from L5 package I decided to keep it.
