I have several resources that I have read completely through from cover to cover, but the progress indicator still shows as I am still reading. Is there a way to force "Finished"?

I think we are all a little OCD about one thing or another. Smile I have also wondered in the past about overriding Logos to show I have completed a book. For me the main benefit is having the books I have read be designated as such rather than still in "reading" status. I like to be able to look at my library and see what has been finished and what hasn't, but I can't always do that because I didn't view every page of the index or I turned a few pages too quickly and Logos didn't count them as read.

I just tag books I intend to read straight through as toread and books I have as read.  Sometimes you may want to search for something in a book you know you finished and this could be handy.

So far, I have been focusing on "I Dare You Not To Bore Me with the Bible" in an attempt to trigger the "Finished" flag. The small portion that is preventing that seems to be at the very beginning or the very end, so I have tried scrolling slowly through both, but it's not working. As far as the Bibles are concerned, I have read through each of the ones listed several times, so I'm sure I didn't miss any pages on those. I'm thinking that this must be a bug, but I want to be pretty sure before I list it as one.

Tagging may be the only work around for this, but it defeats the purpose of the Logos fields. Thanks

I've noticed the same behavior. I pretty much ignored it, but wasn't thrilled because I've been tagging books I've read and hoped this feature would make the tagging obsolete. I guess not.

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.

I may have to ignore it for the time being also. The indicator is misleading, and for it to be useful, it will need to be accurate.

I really don't want to go the tagging route since the indicator is available. I'll wait and see what becomes of it. If it can't be fixed (unlikely), it should be removed.

What a pain/puzzle.. the only think I can think of is maybe there are footnotes that are being counted as unread rather than being ignored

Hmmm. That sounds like a valid reason, but unfortunately I don't think we have a way to test it. Maybe Faithlife will chime in soon to give use some input on this.

I'm fairly convinced now that it is a bug, and will later create a new post with an attention getting title preceded with [BUG].

Thanks

Erwin I have exactly the same problem and get bugged by it. I have carefully gone right from the title page to the last character and it still will not show fully read. I thought it was just me!! I guess that I get a kind of satisfaction about being able to 'tick a book off' and that spoils it in some way. Clearly I am OCD also.

Hi, everyone. I know that the reading status ring indicator is broken into twelve segments that represent twelfths of the book. We should be marking a book "finished" whenever you have read 90% or more of the content. My guess is that there is some rounding error that we should investigate, so I filed it as a bug.

We have (as yet unscheduled) plans for a future feature to right-click the indicator and force it to a status, including "unread" in case you want to (say) read your Bible again.

I followed the same path to confirm that I was not loosing my mind.

The problem has migrated to my spirit now, and there is a strong need for it to be resolved or chalked up as a loss and purged from the mind. Smile

Thanks Eli for chiming in on this. The weight is a little lighter now, knowing that the issue is noticed and being considered. Smile

That's happy news. I've never been sure exactly to do with that feature, and this will really help.

Just for a far future consideration, I wonder if there is a way to make this tool useful for resources that are not designed to be read completely through (like a dictionary or TDNT or a reference grammar or something like that). Ooh, and being a data guy, I'd love to write some code that would look at the completion stats and report on them in various ways. Let me know if you need any help. Smile

I will be looking forward to the new feature! I also am OCD about it recording what I have actually read. Very frustrating when it only won't show completely.
