What are the legal implications of copying an image/chart to print out for a Small Group Bible Study that goes along with the topic you're teaching on?  Is this legally allowed?

This sounds like it falls under the fair use exception to copy-righted material. Basically the fair use doctrine allows limited copying for educational or journalistic purposes. If you are just distributing (for free) some materials to a small group you should be fine.

I can't be more specific because there is no hard and fast definition of "fair use," a judge/jury get to evaluate each case if a copy-right holder decides to sue.

I have always in my 5 years of teaching copied and used for educational use pages from a book and verified each time with the principal if I could.  I would take one full section of a chapter from various texts.
