Checking to see if any of you LLR (Logos Library Reporter tool that i built) users are interested in me building a tool which adds books to Calibre. Calibre is a free tool found on the internet for tracking your Digital Library.
Calibre already has a plugin which adds book info into Calibre, but it does not add book-cover images for these books. i don't think it adds Tags (e.g. Logos, Vyrso, PBB) either.
The tool would add book titles & covers to Calibre. They would be empty books (not the actual book for reading; just the book title/author/book-cover/series & possibly tags [i.e. Logos, Vyrso, PBB]). This tool would work on Windows 7 and higher machines. Hopefully the tool would also work in updating books already in Calibre (from your Logos books) to add the book-cover for those missing the cover (e.g. you have already used the plugin to add your Logos books to Calibre, but they don't have book-covers).
If there are enough people interested in this tool, then i will proceed in starting work on this tool.
EDIT: below is a screenshot of Calibre with book-covers, Tags, & series info.

If you are interested in this feature being built, then reply to this post. Or if you have questions, then you can also reply to this post.

Yes, me, me, me! Please and thank you! I would love a tool like this! The LLR helped me immensely in moving my list of Logos books to Calibre, and it would be so wonderful if the covers could come over as well. I know you'll only work on it if enough people show interest but please note I have enough enthusiasm for a hundred persons!
Here is a screenshot of what my Faithlife virtual library looks like - so sad with no covers! I could add covers via Edit Metadata but, with just over 3000 resources ...
Yasmin,
Could you reply to me via email? i have some questions about using Calibre (i am a newbe on Calibre). You seem to be a knowledgeable user.
Edit: i was contacted, thank you!!!

Make that a 'relatively' knowledgeable user Happy to help any way I can.
Jumps up and down shouting yes yes yes please!!!!!That would be wonderful!
L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, L9
That would be very nice!

YES PLEASE
Count me in as well. Active links in Calibre that open the corresponding Logos resource would be a welcome feature.
Hi Virgil,
Virgil Buttram:Active links in Calibre that open the corresponding Logos resource would be a welcome feature.
i have not found a way that Calibre offers this feature (a link to open a book in Logos/Verbum). So as mentioned above, the program would just add book titles/authors/book-covers/Tags to your Calibre library.
Hi abondservant,
Wonder if you could also contact me via email (see my email address in Yasmin's response), thanks!

I understand. I'm not a programmer, so I can't say if there's something in the Calibre API that a Calibre plug-in could use or not.
I would be interested in this as well.
Thanks! I just discovered LLR a few days ago. Great tool!

I'm nothing remotely like a programmer but I think this can probably be done. Calibre already uses "Identifiers" which, when clicked, take you to external sites. Maybe Logos resource links can be incorporated in there as well?
I don't use Identifiers (anymore) but I downloaded a few to this book to show:
This where they're downloaded to (via a metadata download, or they can be added manually)
These are the clickable links that take you directly to the book's page on Goodreads, Amazon and www.worldcat.org.
i have decided not to build this tool.
After spending considerable time coding & experimenting with Calibre, i ran into some obstacles which lead me to abandon the project.
Thanks for looking in to it!

You are welcome. Sorry that it did not work out

UPDATE:
In case anyone is still interested, this can be done via Calibre - see this thread I initiated over at the Calibre forum. Note especially the posts by user davidfor regarding his plug-in, GenericIdentifiers.
In addition to the links, I was able to manually insert covers and descriptions for all my Logos resources, so now my Logos library is 'duplicated' in Calibre, and I can now open up a Logos resource from there. I did the majority of the work during periods of vacation leave (like right now) and it wasn't as hard as I thought. For ongoing maintenance, I plan to run LLR reports once or twice a month and add, delete or update as necessary.
For covers and descriptions, Mark Barnes' site came in very handy. Now, if I never copy and paste anything ever again, I will be happy
If you want to attempt any of this, feel free to post questions and I'll try answering!
It seems as though there are not going to be any more LLR (Logos Library Reporter) versions - so this would seem a very good idea.
Count me in.
Shalom
