Lectionary Question.. Daily Readings?
All my lectionaries including the RCL seem just to have the Sunday Texts, what happened to the Individual daily teading texts which presumably exist... and how do I get them???
Do I need to buy an addon for something which (I thought) should exist. and should be part of product..

I'm not aware of a daily lectionary for Logos - that doesn't mean that one doesn't exist, of course. It would be a very nice option for the Bible Reading Plan.

Logos has said that given the data they will do the daily lectionary. Parental health problems have slowed me down considerably but progress is being made on several lectionaries.

You're personally working on the daily lectionary? Thank you - are there ways that the rest of us can help that project along?

I am almost done with the liturgical year but haven't done the sanctoral cycle. I have the antiphons as well as the Psalm and readings. And I'm about 3/4 of the way through the Jewish lectionary - which I need to send off to another volunteer. I also have a Lutheran set with a choice of 4 historical morning/evening prayer options. Yes, I have been jumpting around various lectionaries to make sure that I can tell Logos all the uncommon situations that need to be taken under consideration. I do have a couple of people helping and will recruit more volunteers as I get less scattered and know Logos it ready to handle them.Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Attached is a Lutheran lectionary from 1917 Common Service Book. Correction: Luther Book of Worship 1978 I have questions as to how the psalm cycle matches up to the readings after the Advent season. If anyone wants to finish filling that portion of this lectionary out (Excel format - or Open Office's equivalent), it would be appreciated.

Attached is a Methodist lectionary from 1935 The Methodist Hymnal. Here I have questions as to how the Sundays map to either a secular or liturgical calendar. If anyone can educate me, I would appreciate it.

Attached is an unidentified Messianic Judaism lectionary - with some typos and incomplete references. If someone can identify this lectionary for me and clean up the errors/missing data, I would appreciate it. Again its in Excel format. Thanks.

If you download the file attached to the post above, you will find that the Psalm column is incomplete. If you know the information to correctly fill that section, the table would be complete. Thanks for offering.

Thank you!
I am interested in the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer Daily Office. Have you started this one? I'm willing to help but don't know how to set it up.

where do I find the information to fill that one in? I have never seen a daily lectionary

MJ,
On a hunch, I downloaded the file you have labeled as the Lutheran 1917 Common Service Book. The spreadsheet inside is labeled 1978 Book of Worship. Do you know which lable is correct?
When I checked readings against the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, readings 1-3 are at least very similar, although the psalm cycles are different. Starting with the Lutheran file would speed up file creation and data entry for an Episcopal BCP Daily Office lectionary (or at least reduce data entry errors!)
I am one of the people with Logos 4 crashing on startup (since January 29th), requiring a lot of time with log files, tech support, & head scratching. When that gets fixed, I'd be happy to start modifying the Lutheran spreadsheet into Episcopal form.

My apologies. The file is in fact the 1978 Book of Worship. The file itself was mistitled; the spreadsheet was correctly titled. You are correct the the BCP Daily Office should be very similar. I'd love to have you modify it into the Episcopal form. I've not started any of the Episcopal/Anglican tables.

You wouldn't know it under the name "daily lectionary" and it has been pointed out to me that the file is actually the 1978 Lutheran Book of Worship file. The readings are those assigned to Morning and Evening Prayer as the appear in the table of the hymnal. The psalms follow a cycle for which I don't have sufficient information - I'm sure a Lutheran pastor could answer.
What happens it that seasons of the year may have different choices of psalms so that each time a season changes you need to know what happens. For Lutherans, I don't know that. There is a manual that goes with the congregational book that has the information, as would the Minister's desk version. There likely are Lutheran online morning/evening prayer resources. A Lutheran pastor or musician on the forum may be able to answer the question.
What service book does your congregation use? It may be that you'd rather build the table for it (Sunday & Feast lectionary, morning & evening prayer) if I don't have it started.

No, I have not started the BCP. A simple spread sheet with the following columns:
- Season
- Week
- Day
- OR Calendar date for the fixed date holy days and lesser feasts
For morning prayer [use OR between choices, a semicolon when both are tp be said, and parens around something that is optional):
- First psalm (usually Psalm 95)
- Second psalm/canticle
- First reading
- Third psalm/canticle
- Second reading
- Fourth psalm/canticle
Use the BCP terminology, I haven't pull the BCP out to check the column names; do the same for evening prayer and night prayer using the same line. I know there is a Breviary with the other hours but off the topic of my head I don't remember if they are in the BCP. If they are, please include them. My intent is to enter everything that has a Biblical citation regardless of its use in the prayers.
If someone is interested in doing Common Worship: Services and Prayers for the Church of England that would be useful too.
Shortened example:
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Obviously there are many lectionaries out there ... is anyone working on the Revised Common Lectionary Daily Readings proposed by the Consultation on Common Texts? I would love that in Logos Daily Reading section.0 -

I'd love to have the psalm as well as the other Sunday readings in the Catholic lectionary. I use the Sunday readings as part of my daily Bible study through the week. I can actually get the Psalm for the Sunday from my Sunday Missal, but it would be nice if it showed up in Logos as I don't take my missal with me when I go away. This is basically Nicky being lazy. But I don't know why they don't include the psalms. It would also be nice if the readings for the big weekday feasts (?e.g. Ascension) came up with the Catholic lectionary.
I don't think it's realistic to offer to help with it. I don't want to make an offer and then let you down. And I realise I have no right to expect my wish to be fulfilled if I'm not prepared to do something about it. But I mention it fior what it's worth. I do appreciate getting all these lectionaries free.
And I think it would be a nice idea to have the option of lectionary readings in the Logos Daily Reading section.

The current USA Catholic daily & Sunday lectionary complete including antiphons and an psalms. It is partially proofread. However, my Mother took a spill and crushed a vertebrae. After a few days in the hospital, she moved into a nursing home. Naturally that was the week my brother was out of town celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. So yet again I got waylaid. ... seems to be my story this year.

We actually have a lectionary resource for the 1979 Book of Common Prayer Daily Office Readings in the works. It should be available soon.
I should also clarify that, for lectionaries that are not in the public domain, Logos also has to obtain permission from the copyright holder before producing the resource. This often holds up projects even when the data is readily available.

Is the Revised Common Lectionary Daily Readings proposed by the Consultation on Common Texts available yet? Just wondering.

If you mean the 2 year Office of 1979, it is already available.
Book of Common Prayer (1979) Daily Office Lectionary
If you mean the one year version of 1948, I am not sure if that one is being done.

Thank you so much for putting this in a spreadsheet. I emailed Logos a few weeks ago to check on the status of this project and they didn't know what I was talking about.
I started this project myself months ago but am making very slow progress. Is there any way I could take a look (perhaps even use) yours? (Perhaps proof it.) I've got a plan to import this in a google calendar format with the daily readings as events. I would also like to analyze the passage selections to see how much of a book is used throughout the three year cycle.
All the best. Scott

MJ.: Could you please post the excel file with the Daily RCLectionary. Have been working on this myself and your data would be immensely helpful. I'm happy to proofread to move this along. Also glad you're working with Logos on publishing this. Would be great to have this incorporated into current RCL.
Peace. Scott
