With so many geographical place names in the Bible, the majority of which are not familiar to most people, it means you have to manually search for them in an Atlas which is laborious and time consuming.

I would like to suggest that the brilliant folks at Logos might produce an Atlas resource that links an Index of place names to geographical locations so that when you click on a place name, it automatically locates it on a map.

Hope this makes sense and has not already been done. If it has, can you please point me to the resource.

You can do it in a few clicks.

  1. Right-click on the place name in your Bible.
  2. Make sure the place name is selected on the right hand side of the menu (it will have an icon next to it, indicating what type of place it is).
  3. Choose Atlas from the lefthand side of the menu.

You'll be shown a number of maps which feature this location. Unless you have a specific event in mind, it's best to choose the "Biblical Word" map for the correct time frame.
