Yes, I'm having a bit of fun. Pick a Bible of your choice. Look up Malachi 3:20. Now look up Malachi 4:2. If you're using a paper Bible you may have problems but if you are using Logos you shouldn't. Depending upon your preferred translation, your results may be a bit different than mine.

1. In the Go Box I try to enter Malachi 3:20 ...but the drop down insists I add a NABRE in front of it. Why NABRE? Because my highest priority Bible does not have a Malachi 3:20. NABRE is my highest priority Bible that has Malachi 3:20.

2. I accept the Logos suggestion.

3. When the layout opens (I simplified the default layout), it opens my highest priority Bible to Malachi 4:2. Why? Because 4:2 and 3:20 are actually the same verse - simply one set of Bibles divides Malachi into 3 chapters while another set of Bibles divides it into 4. So watch what happens as I select the verse, right click and choose Search.

4. For the NRSV my Search uses a DataTypeName of BibleNRSV and the 4:2 designation.

5. For NABRE it uses BibleNABRE and Mal 3:20/

6. For NJB it uses BibleNJB and Mal 3:20

7. For NEB it uses BibleNEB and 4:2 ... Logos is automatically making the conversion for me. Note that the Library results are always the same.

8. The Wiki contains a list of the Bible Datatypes. I'm not sure that it is kept up to date but I've not found any missing values.

9. The Information Panel for a Bible will indicate the verse map used and therefore the BibleTypeName.

10.The Wiki also gives a summary of book - # of chapters - # of verses by chapter so that you can identify places where the versification may differ.

Linking NKJV and LHB provides an interesting display—Logos handles the differing chapter divisions very well.

Thank you!  I've wondered about the little letters after the "Bible" index name.  Your examples are really helpful illustrations of how Logos "thinks."  There is so much going on under the hood -- I'm in awe!
