I'm reading through Edersheim's The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah and in particular the last week of Christ's life.

I've been doing this for years, but I was wondering is there a resource/book that is similar in style (engaging) and in depth as his, but in a more updated book?

Edersheim sure is a classic but you are right that it is not exactly up to date. I too have wondered if there was a modern equivalent so your question caused me to reflect on what's in my library on this topic. Here are a few worth considering:

Jesus and the Gospels by Craig Blomberg is excellent - https://www.logos.com/product/30940/jesus-and-the-gospels-an-introduction-and-survey-2nd-ed

It is certainly not the same format but IVP Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels offers some excellent information in a dictionary format https://www.logos.com/product/736/dictionary-of-jesus-and-the-gospels and the second edition https://www.logos.com/product/45896/dictionary-of-jesus-and-the-gospels-2nd-ed

If you have the Blomberg's 1997 edition, how much does it cost to get the updated edition?

I'm guessing that there would not be a discount for this but I'm not positive. One way to check is to click on the link and see.

Hey Bruce :) Great suggestion. I even have that resource (update ed.). I've just skimmed over it and I do like the "for further study" and "questions for review" sections.

I'll give it a shot unless something else comes up, but this is perfect!

Thanks again.
