Calvin 500

So can someone type out the string that is required to have a collection that holds just the Calvin 500 series? I admit I am not so good at creating advanced strings.

It's evidently not yet available. I just checked my account and it's still in the pre-pub orders and has a "Live" status. I guess it will be ready to download overnight. Would we not receive an email notice that it has been charged to our credit cards before it is ready to download?

It takes them a while to process everyone's credit cards, so some people get it sooner than others. Probably in order of when you placed your order. Be patient. It's the weekend coming up, so it might not come until Monday.
If "update now" doesn't work, I've heard rumors that "update resources" might work when "update now" doesn't, but I haven't confirmed that myself. I personally have never had to run "update resources" which does a complete comparison of all the resource files on your hard disk with what's on the servers and your licenses to make sure you have everything you're entitled to, and the latest versions of everything.

I was game and entered update resources and, lo and behold, I've got a 588 MB download going. Thanks, Rosie.
At least I hope that's what it is. [:D] If not, I've got a lot of overdue updating being done.

Just out of curiosity, Bill, how long did it take to run through the check before it started downloading? And how many resources are in your library?
Since I've never done it, I'm kind of curious now whether "update resources" would find any discrepancies for me, but I'm not in the mood for a long wait. And there is some advantage to be had in remaining one of the few beta testers who has never run that command, because I might be able to find bugs that others won't ever see.

It took a few minutes before it started downloading. I watch it for a couple of minutes and then turned away to do something. When I check again I noticed the little blue Logos icon indicated that resources were available and it was downloading automatically. I have a slow DSL, so it's taking a while to download. it's now at 65%.
At present, I have 1672 resources. When this finishes, I hope to see 1780 resources.

Alas, but no. I evidently simply had some heavy updating that had to take place. Because my updates are set to automatic and I have seen updating take place automatically, I was crossing my fingers that this was Calvin's 500. The bright side is I still have something to look forward to.

It is very fast, and if there are no updates it comes back in well less than a minute for me.

Hi Valerie,
In order to create the collection, I was trying to determine all the Resources that we have just downloaded from Calvin 500 collections. I noticed only 75 resources instead of the 108 was downloaded for my case (the list is extracted from L3 Account Summary).
There are various issues with metadata information (mentioned in another thread) on consistency of titles, series, abbrev, etc. for now one way to do it is just enter "calvin" and drag the rest the is not in the collection to the "minus" catagory.

Most of us who could help don't have the collection yet, so we will have to wait to answer the question until it downloads for us. Probably Monday at this point. It seems they process the credit cards manually... [^o)]

I just posted this on another forum post but, one should check here
https://www.logos.com/user/MyOrders then unlock and download it into version 3. Version 4 should then recognize it . My version 4 recieved the update but version 3 would not. This was my work around for 3, so it should work for 4 also. IF not you still have it in version 3. Blessings...

It hasn't even shown up in My Orders yet, and hasn't been charged to my credit card yet. I don't want to believe that they run all the credit cards through manually, but it does appear that's what happens, as some people have been having to wait a days or two to get popular resources. I'm not in a hurry so it's no big deal for me, but I know others are frustrated that it takes this long. It should be a computerized process.

I see.. That would be frustrating.. They must have had a lot of orders to process.

Interesting, Blair. Mine is not showing in Order History (my orders) yet, so it hasn't been processed. My pre-pub order was made on 4/20/09, three days after it was announced, FWIW (which may not be anything!).

OK, so that blows my theory of "the first shall be first and the last shall be last." I have heard from some folks who called Customer Service when they didn't see it show up right away after it was released, and CS was able to process it right away for them. So maybe my theory should be revised to "the squeaky wheel gets the grease." [:)]

I am theorizing it is the method in which one orders. I called it in, and it was available immediately. In the cases you mentioned, I believe your revision is on track.

I think you've nailed it, Rosie. It's comforting that there are reliable laws of nature! Waiting till the first of next week isn't too bad since I've waited since last April.

Blair, did you order yesterday? I had wondered if orders made yesterday would be available at once since the entire process would be done immediately.

To your question, I regret to answer yes. I place my order in academic sales right before they closed. They seem to have processed my order right then, and there.

I am assuming your rep got tied up with calls. I would think the first thing he would have done when he got the to office is process your order. I feel bad that those that placed the order before me did not get served first. However I had or have no way of controlling that. I was just glad they honored my order price so late in the game. My apologies for the news, I am just being honest.
I hope I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles: the character of an honest man.

Nothing for you to feel bad about, though I appreciate your thoughts. It's just the way things happen, and it's no crucial matter. It's not as though I'm going to plumb the depths or heights of the Calvin 500 before Monday anyway. [;)] I don't know how things work with the reps, if they have anything to do with processing pre-pub orders which they set up months before or if that is done in another department. I had assumed it was done in another department, but I'm clueless concerning how it all works.

Why doesn't someone from Logos get on here and tell us what is happening with the Calvin 500 collection? It was supposed to be available yesterday. Everyone's conjectures are of no help.

I agree. To announce that Calvin 500 ships on 2/26 should mean that pre-pub orders should have been available for download that day. Perhaps it would be better for Logos not to announce a ship date that takes place on a Friday if orders have to be manually processed there. Closing on Friday precludes the availability of the product for most customers till the following Monday. It doesn't wreck my world, but I don't think it's the best way to handle things.
True, for those receiving disks, it probably did ship on Friday. Still, with Logos 4, "ship date" should mean "download date," it seems to me.

My PrePub orders in my account show it as being "Live". What in the world does that mean?
I would have liked to have downloaded them when I was told (2/26) in order to use the materials in checking on a few things for this coming Sunday.

I'm missing nine volumes and it's hard to track down which ones but in the process I found . . .
The Calvin 500 collection list on the web page has :
- Memoirs of the Life and Writings of John Calvin, by Elijah Waterman
but the book in my library says it's by Theodore Beza
Still looking to see which books are missing . . .
