Does anyone have experience with the Dell Studio XPS 16 laptop? What have you found regarding overheating and battery life issues when running L4?
Hey Niels,
I have always gone with the Studio 17 because the specs are so close, usually cheaper and you get more screen. I now have another Studio 17 from Dell. The processor is 2.10, 4 gig of ram, and a 512 video card, the hard drive is a 500 gig sata 7200 rpm...whichever laptop you decide to order, you definately want the 7200 rpm hard drive, many post support this fact. you can read the customer comments on both laptops at the dell website. I am also in the process of building a new desktop that will also have windows 7, the I-7 processor and all the other goodies that go along with that.
Dan,
Thank you.
I have given the Studio 17 much consideration as well. I am intrigued by the touch screen which was offered on it. The added weight was a concern for me.
Please let me know whether you experience extraordinary heat issues with the new Studio 17 which has the i7 CPU, and how long the battery lasts per charge.
I use the Dell Studio 17 (without the touch screen). Overheating no problem. Battery life is not great. Get about three and half hours.
I have i7 CPU, 8 gig ram, 7200 rpm hd. Graphics card with 1 gig mem.
Overall, I am very pleased.
Ended up with a Dell Studio XPS 16. Working out well so far.
I've had a few studio 17's and they do run somewhat hot...that's just the way they are.
The battery life is not amazing either as has been said.
But I've been satisfied with the combo of Dell + Logos 4.
