I don't know that you "had to" but Logos Cloud was designed for those who didn't own a package while Logos Now was designed for those who did (roughly speaking).

I'm glad the rumors were wrong and L7 didn't officially launch today. I need a little more time and a little more money before I can be ready for L7 (even though I'll get access to the engine and datasets included in my Logos Now subscription).

Yes, and now that they took away the "last minute change" resources (the NT146 mobile ed class and the "doing theology" series) all the hype was nothing more than a some discounted resources this month. Looking forward to next month though.

Agree. Anti-climatic...

Yasmin Stephen:

From the Logos Now FAQ:

"Do I need to own a Logos 6 base package to use Logos Now?

No, Logos Now gives you access to all of the Logos Bible Software features, including those in Logos 6. However, you will need library resources to make better use of the features."

This is new, right? IIRC, you previously had to have Logos 6 (package, cross-grade etc) for Logos Now to make sense. Or maybe I was mistaken?

Correct, this is new. Previously, Logos Now only gave subscribers access to the early release features of Logos 7.

Now, Logos Now gives members access to all features, content, datasets, media included in Logos 6, plus access to features we will only deliver via a subscription (such as Lemma in Passage and Lexham Discourse features) plus access to the early release features of Logos 7.

Yes, this is new. Logos Now now includes full access to all Logos features, so whether you're just getting started or aren't fully up to date, Logos Now will ensure you have access to every feature available. Instead of being just for Logos 6 Gold and higher owners, it's now for everyone.

So... for those of us who have been loyal Logos base package purchasers AND Logos Now subscribers, who have we gained, or lost?

Other than losing the monthly subscription option, I don't see us gaining anything (compared to the original Logos Now program)... am I missing something?

My question too - you beat me to it.

Yes, don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I've been a very happy NOW subscriber since day one. But there hasn't been any new features since April, so I was anticipating a major release of sorts today from the hype. Only Chrome knows (and God :-)) how many times I refreshed the site this morning to see the New Improvements of NOW. I'm glad they're committing to offer a free Mobile Ed class per month (from what I can tell), and always welcome discounts, but I join the sentiments of those who thought something more was coming today. Bottom line: Looking forward to the future releases of Logos, and I have enjoyed what has been released so far.

NOW subscribers are supposed to get new features every 6 weeks. I agree that we haven't seen much in the past few months (and I don't see how they can sustain that indefinitely anyhow). At some point, they may have to drop the promise of new features every 6 weeks.

Seems like this move sets up how Faithlife intends to offer Logos 7 when it is released. Look at the following discussion for more info:

JH and James,

As you have noticed, our six-week releases have gotten smaller over the last couple. We had to slow down a bit to work on some special surprises for the next major release. As a general rule, we want to be releasing plenty of new value every six weeks, but occasionally we may need to slow down to work on some bigger things that take more than one release cycle to build. I think you'll soon agree that it's been worth the wait.

For those of you who are already Logos Now subscribers and looking for what the new program means for you, here are the four things that have changed (beside ending the monthly option):

  1. Logos Now is now a membership program. Unlike the original Logos Now, which was primarily subscription-access to new Logos features, the new Logos Now is a membership program designed with both owners and subscribers in mind.

  2. Logos Now now has a members-only page where you’ll find regularly updated discounts, offers, and more. If you’re a regular or even occasional Logos buyer, you may save enough in members-only discounts to more than pay for your annual membership.

  3. Logos Now now includes access to all Logos features, not just the ones we’ve built since Logos 6 shipped. Originally, Logos Now was meant as an add-on for Logos 6 Gold and higher owners to get early-access to Logos 7 features. Now it’s for everyone and grants access to all the feature includes in Logos 6 Gold plus all future features. Whether you’re a regular upgrader, have missed a version or two, or are just getting started, Logos Now gives you full access to all features.

  4. Logos Now members will enjoy a special 5% bonus discount on Logos 7. This is on top of the introductory discount that everyone will enjoy.

There’s more in the works that we'll reveal in coming weeks, but that’s all for now. :)

Hi Phil, only a small point, but it might then be worth changing the graphic on the homepage from "Subscribe Today" to "Join Today".

Thanks Phil (and Chris) for confirming. I think this is great news for persons who held back from Logos Now because they didn't have L6.

A typo from the FAQ (see strike-through):

Does the Logos Cloud Feature Set work offline?

Yes. The Logos Cloud Feature Set is accessed through your Logos desktop app and most features are available offline. You have to be online to install the features initially, but you it will work offline after that. You will also have access to an online version of the software, which does require an Internet connection. Features like Media Browser will require an Internet connection to access your media.

Phil,

One thing I haven't seen specifically answered, though it may have been... Are those of us who already have an annual Logos Now subscription automatically part of this new "membership?" And we merely need to renew as we normally would have to continue in this new membership?

The implicit answer seems to be, "Yes." But I'd love that to be made clear, and perhaps put on the "Explore the Benefits" page (assuming I haven't simply missed it).

I hope there is more because that was once again a whole lot of marketing hype for a whole lot of nothing so far other than a change of terminology from subscription to membership.

Yes. No action needed for current subscribers. If you're monthly, you'll need to convert to annual by 12/31/16.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll look into this.
