I Bought 7, Upgraded to 7, the Help-About says 7, But NO 7 features appear!

Hello,

   My title says it all! Here is a rundown:

  1. I upgraded my Logos 6 Portfolio to Logos 7.
  2. I downloaded the LogosSetup.exe file.
  3. Ran the file, waited for the download, started Logos (or perhaps it started itself, I forget), and a big update occurred.
  4. When all updates were applied, I see no changes, so I restart Logos. Still looks the same, but I figure, "Well, 7 probably didn't change the initial interface all that much," so...
  5. I clicked Help, About Logos and see it says Logos Bible Software 7.0 7.0.0.0055 - SCREEN SHOT ATTACHED.



  6. BUT - My Layouts menu show no QuickStart layouts (it's exactly the same as Logos 6 Layouts dropdown) as this screen shows:




  7. No new features such as COURSES, CONCORDANCE TOOLS, etc., appear in the Tools menu (see attached):



Pride comes before a fall, and I often pride myself on being a Logos expert. So I'm sure going to be embarrassed if what I'm describing isn't accurate, or if my screen shots belie my complaint.

But I'll also be thrilled if I'm just missing all the Logos 7 features and they're here somewhere! Smile

So in the hopes that my big spending on Logos 7 resulted in my actually getting Logos 7, please tell me what I'm missing.

    In the command bar, type update now and lets see if that fixes the problem. Make sure that you have finished downloading and indexing.

    Logos 7 comes in two parts (see more details here: https://www.logos.com/ways-to-get-logos)

    • A Library
    • A Feature Set (purchased standalone, or as part of a Logos Now membership

    From your account, it appears that you have just purchased the Portfolio Library, but no Feature Set. Thus, you will not have any of the Logos 7 features, since they're sold separately.

    The website should have added both the Portfolio and the Feature Set to your cart when you purchased the base package.

    To fix this, I highly recommend calling Sales to purchase the Feature Set because you will get a combo discount when you purchase both at the same time. (Your total price may even go down!)

    Thank you, I'm an idiot because it showed both and I thought, I don't want to pay twice for the engine when I'm upgrading my entire Portfolio to 7!

    I hate excuses, but everything is so complex to know what to do with all the classes of packages (as opposed to a simpler Gold, Platinum, etc.) and Logos Now just makes decisions even harder to discern properly.

    I'll upgrade the Feature Set engine ASAP and I bet it all works great.

    You've now got all the features of Logos 7 and the Portfolio Library, but you missed out on a great combination discount by not buying both in the same order. 

    You can't get the discount by buying them separately in two orders on the website, but our Sales team could get you a refund by processing it as a combined order.

    Yep, all is well, it's all showing up in true and glorious Logos version 7!!!!

    And I want it on record that it took you about 5 minutes or less to respond to my original problem, give me the solution, and not only offer a way to save some money but also reminded me a second time about the money savings.

    Tell the Pritchetts you need a raise! If they hesitate, you just tell them to call me, I'll set them straight!

    I wish you would have done something better. For LN users it is impossible to get combination at the same time. Now I have to call CS and redo my order

    EDIT: After 20 min waiting on the phone, I got directed to a voicemail. I think I will have to call tomorrow

    We were intentionally cautious and decided NOT to add the Logos 7 Feature Sets to carts as part of a base package sale when the user was already a Logos Now member.  We did not want Logos Now members to be forced to purchase the feature set they were already paying to access as a benefit of membership.

    Logos Now members receive the same discounts that non-members get for purchasing a base package combo when they buy a library or feature set alone (not in combination).  That's one of the benefits of being a Logos Now member.

    However, if any Logos Now member wants to purchase a Library and Feature set together, they simply need to add a feature set from here and then add a library from here.

    Nice video and very informative. It is helpful to point out that the ads can be turned off via the gear wheel in the top right hand corner.

    Lynden, you are so correct and I was going to mention that in the video but...

    Two things:

    1. Logos is the only company I do business with (okay, "Faithlife," but it'll always be Logos to me!) where I actually want to see ads for cool things I don't yet have. I like seeing the ads and I love getting emails for Pre-Pubs. (Don't get me started on Community Pricing, is that ever the best thing since sliced bread!!!) 

    2. I sort of got to thinking that it might be appreciated by viewers to see the ad option, but then again, anything I can do, albeit indirectly, to support the Logos effort, I'll always err on the side of helping. So if a few ads pop up and not all viewers know how to turn it off, well, that's fine. 

    Having said that... Ugh! I really didn't like the phone experience this time when I called in for the Logos 7 upgrade. The guy was high-pressure, not "helpful," but high-pressure, he continually ignored my every request and told me what was "best" for me, and it was a complete turn-off. I've given much feedback elsewhere on the superb Logos phone banks and how both the support staff as well as the sales staff truly do listen and respond and help but never push so hard I want to hang up. This time with Logos 7, I did hang up and in the "follow-up" email from this salesman, Zack somebody I thin, I made sure that when I ultimately ordered that I was not connected to him. There is no way he deserves one cent of commission by constantly ignoring what I asked him. (Sorry to riff here about it, but when I praise Logos for their advertising, I think it's also fair to mention where they may be slipping badly.)
