Just wondering..
about 80 cents a resource, 17,000 resources.
L7 added 17000 resources??
oh nope. cumulative totals. sorry!
I went with the Platinum Standard. As a Logos Now subscriber and Logos 6 Platinum owner, I got about 300 new resources for about $2.6 each. It was a shame the Pillar New Testament Commentary wasn't updated with the 2 new books though. I did get 4 key resources from my wish list: Hermeneia and Continental Commentaries $1,699.99; The Bible Speaks Today: New Testament $319.99; Tyndale Commentaries $224.99; Exegetical Dictionary of the New Testament $139.99. So just those 4 made it worthwhile, the bonus of the others and the Mobile Ed courses really made it a good deal. Also the comentaries sets seemed more balanced, Logos 6 Platinum seemed a little biased towards the New Testament.
I had the privilege to purchase all available BPs, adding around 2100ish resources and spent $2k somethin.
I spent about $300. The FFS plus the quietly unadvertised Denise Collection. Basically, an average of $60 per volume overall.
Just wondering.. 1. How much you spent and how many resources you received from L7?
1. How much you spent and how many resources you received from L7?
$290 and 78, but 1 of those 78 was the AYBD. [:P]
2. What you don't like from your particular L7 BPs?
Unlike with L6, I found none of the lower-to mid-end BPs so compelling that I felt I had to buy.
3. What you do like from your particular L7 BPs?
Seriously: I got the AYBD & 77 other mostly ok-to-very-good for under $300, which was about the max I wanted to spend as a whole. The upgrade was painless. I'm content.
A lot less that previous upgrades, actually this has been a bit of a trend as my library gets bigger the upgrade offers become less attractive.
What I do expect though, but is hard to actually track/prove, is that I will get more value out of all of my resources.
I actually tried to track value about 10 years after I first bought Logos so sadly I know that in 2007 the average cost per resource in my library was £1.70, this rose to £2.25 by 2009 and has steadily fallen since then to £1.35. This is a mix of package offers and items I just had to have regardless of the price.
In the same period the range of tools and the number of ways that I can get information from the resources has grown significantly. So you could argue that while the cost per resource has decreased the vale of each has increased significantly.
For me the way that I buys means that the £1.35 number has been pretty stable for a while now.
Nothing, so far...[*-)] but invested heavily on L6, and have LN. Will probably keep LN and buy FFS.
Grace and peace. <><
So far I have only spent $29 on the Methodist Bronze package. I think I probably got about 30 new resources. I'm also going to purchase Regular Silver for $143 and Anglican Bronze for $43. Those new purchases will give me another 115 resources.
So a little over a dollar for about 145 resources. After those purchases I'll be content. I heavily invested in Logos 6, so I no longer need the more pricey packages.
I took the plunge and went with Portfolio which I also had in L6. I believe that it added just over 500 resources which I'm keen to begin to explore.
I never look at the total number of resources because many are irrelevant to me. I'm going with Logos Standard Gold this time because it has three sets I would like to have: The New Daily Study Bible commentaries (17 vols.), the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary (6 vols.), and The Bible Speaks Today: New Testament commentaries (22 vols.). These alone are worth it to me.
In addition, there are a slew of resources that are new to me, good, copyrighted things (not a lot of public domain, though much public domain is good), not to mention three Mobile Ed courses I'll be happy to have: Preaching the Psalms, Law and Gospel: The Basis of Christian Ethics, and Introducing the Gospels and Acts: Their Background, Nature, and Purpose.
If I go with Logos Now, the library will cost me $316.55 (total of $406.54 including Logos Now), and if I buy the full feature set for L7, the library will cost $335.17 (total of $464 including the FFS).
I've cut back a lot on my buying, but the discounts made this package attractive to me.
Thinking of getting Portfolio too. Bruce, how do you like it? I haven't made any decisions on what to get yet. I'm too lost on where to start. Especially after I got L6 Diamond three months ago. =/
Almost 1k resources (maybe, didn't really count just rounding up).
Gold Standard, Platinum Wesleyan/Methodist which I think is the best Platinum BP by far as far as content value is concerned (Highlights: OT &NT Library Series, Hermeneia, Interpretation Commentaries and other cool resources better than Standard Platinum this time except it doesn't have Dictionary of Classical Hebrew but can get that later if I ever need it) and for the rest I upgraded to Bronze except for the SDA and Lutheran no upgrades for those, which IMO don't offer much. Now I'm just waiting for L7 in Spanish to complete my shopping spree. All that for cheap hehehe (sorry x amount is personal for me but it was cheap).

so far the same for me. will pick up something but waitng for the topical bundles and orthodox libraries to appear before I make a final decision. I have mixed feelings about the standard range since it includes The New Daily Study Bible commentaries (17 vols.) in every set besides the starter. I own the original set that was in Logos many years ago and so really don't want to have to pay for it a second time (yes I know the language is updated etc) but I'm not getting really getting any new content but for me Standard Bronze is only 27.36 USD while the NDSB would cost me 190.49 USD on its own - but it is the biggest component of that 27.36USD when I look at the new resources ot me in that library.. As I go up in line of the range the % contribution of the NSDB to the cost of resources that are new to me will of course decrease but the cost of the library will increase.
Edit: I ended up adding the 7 volumes of the preaching the word series I was missing; currently at 164 but got them for $82, so not bad.
I have not had time to fully assess each resource but initially I'm generally pleased. I'm looking forward to tagging each one which I have done with all of my resources as I use the tagging process to assess each one.

Likewise. If they were not coming out, I would have already purchased some stuff.
Collector's, Lutheran Portfolio, Anglican Portfolio, Reformed Platinum, Methodist/Wesleyan Bronze, and the Feature set. I purchased all of these separately ensuring dynamic pricing would work.
Since I graduated seminary my academic discount ended on 8/25 I bought a lot. I wasn't expecting L7 to come out until Oct or Nov so I wouldn't have had my discount then and I probably wouldn't have purchased much. I invested a lot into Logos 6 with my discount and figured I should get everything while I can. With all of my investments then, dynamic pricing, L7 Now discount, and academic discount the price was well worth it. Really thankful it released the week my discount expired.
Added about 1,700 resources. I was most happy with the Eerdmann's bundle and the TDOT in the collector's. I would've been fine with just that, but with my academic discount expiring I figured I should just do the rest and call it good for a long time. The Eerdmann's bundle alone was more expensive than all of those packages I purchased so I am quite content. I don't plan on buying anything else for years.
happy with the Eerdmann's bundle and the TDOT in the collector's.
Didn't even know that I got the Eerdmans Bible Reference Bundle. Sweet! I need to work on my (looong) tags now.
Btw, how much you spent?
About 2,200 for everything. Like I mentioned, the Eerdmann's Bundle alone (with dynamic pricing and academic discount applied) was more than all of the packages. I was able to basically clear out my wishlist right before my academic discount ended. I honestly wasn't planning on buying any new packages since I figured L7 would release after it expired.
Anthony, about the academic discount. Do you still got an academic discount for the packages you bought after the first one? Because the website suggests there is an academic discount for the first purchase (and thus not for the following....
yes, every transaction said the academic and Logos Now discount applied.
Good, I have a whole year of academic discount coming. So I can spread my purchases :P
Take advantage of it and buy everything you can. It'll be worth it.
Yes, but it should be noted that, after the L/V7 introductory period is over (my guess: the end of September), the discount on Libraries and Feature Sets for academic members with Now will be decreased by 5%.
