This may have been asked but I can't seem to find it.  Can anyone think of an advantage to purchasing the Full Feature Set today and continuing with Now?

No. Logos Now has everything in the FFS, so you gain nothing from having both. You should choose between them.

The Feature Set is currently discounted, so if you are likely to discontinue your Now membership in the near future, it would be worth purchasing soon (i.e. just before the sale ends), but not 'now'.

Well, the LNow membership is more than just the L7 FFS. It gives access to monthly preview resources and courses, to members-only discounts (such as on prior-month preview resources), to the app.logos.com beta and to L7+/L8 features (starting soon) that are not in L7 FFS.

That said, for me, there is no reason to purchase FFS as long as I am a member. And I can buy the then-relevant FFS when my memership ends at a discount. In fact, I believe Faithlife will continue to price LNow at a level that makes is economically reasonable to stay stay with LNow rather than to buy FSS.

I agree that Faithlife will continue to make LN the most attractive option in order to encourage people in this direction.

It does make me theoretically wonder what the pricing options will be for those who don't continue to purchase the Full Feature Set for a release or two but then decide that they would like to do this down the road. Will the price be so high that it will be out of reach by the average person thus forcing people to continue the LN to keep the features? This seems quite likely to me.

It does make for a bit of a conundrum, Bruce, if someone stops his Logos Now membership two or three major upgrades later. The feature/data set dynamic pricing will obviously increase each time, but I have no idea by how much. I would love to see Faithlife come up with an equitable way to give Logos Now members a credit on their subscription in order to take some of the sting out of purchasing the FFS should they need to do so.

But I also agree with Mark in either joining Logos Now or buying the Full Feature Set. If someone thought he or she may need to buy the FFS several years later, it would be better to sock away $100 a year to cover that instead of sending it to Faithlife and perhaps never needing it.

The software industry seems to be moving toward a subscription model, and Faithlife may be much different in a decade, particularly for newer customers. I kind of like the Now model, where we own our books and can subscribe to the feature sets.

I've wondered about our MVP's: are most of them Logos Now members?

Perhaps eventually, for future editions of Logos/Verbum Feature Sets, the overall discount against MSRP for non-new features found in them will be higher, or the MSRP for said features will be reduced. A growing percentage of older features may also simply be added to the free version--FL has added features from a paid version to the free version before. Some features may be spun out into their own sets--Interlinear Sets, Interactives Sets, whatever. Lots of stuff that presently exists as a 'feature' of the program doesn't necessarily have to be seen in that light. We'll see what FL does. They probably don't know yet what they'll do either.

At the end of the day, Faithlife won't let its own program's growing number and quality of features price said features out of its own market. That's not good business, nor is it in line with their non-fiscal goals.

I believe the answer is "yes". I personally love exploring all the new features as they are released.

In choosing between the FFS and LN, the LN subscription will include all of the features of the FFS plus other things from month to month. The Logos Now subscription will take the pressure off of needing to buy the Full Feature Set in a short period of time. You can fit the purchases in throughout the year.

I don't agree entirely. As far as functionality is concerned, you are doubtless correct that having both gives you absolutely nothing. And as everyone has mentioned, LN actually has more features currently and gives early access to new features, making LN somewhat preferable to the FFS.

However, as I've mentioned elsewhere on the forums, having both does prevent an inheritor from having to sign up for LN or paying massive fees to bring the engine up to date. I don't want to gift something that requires the recipient to sign up for a SaaS or incur a major expense.

I don’t mean to cavil incessantly about this, but since FL has moved to productizing the datasets/features, I view the underlying software to be just as critical as the book resources I would devise to someone.

It is even worse than that: once you are a subscriber for more than two upgrades you will never be able to stop the subscription without a major loss to functionality or a huge financial layout.  Logos Now offers so much functionality and so many amazing tools that we become dependent  on them for studying the Bible. Anyone who only subscribe will lose "all datasets and features" since their last purchase when they stop their subscription, for whatever reason. Logos Free Engine has very little functionality on its own. Stopping Logos Now in the future would remove all major datasets, features and functionality you "gained" since subscribing. I prefer to buy. If I have to stop my subscription I will not lose any functionality.
