1 - Ability to add "tags" or "keywords" to sermons to aid in organization (e.g., you can later find all your sermons related to faith).

2 - When inserting a Bible Reference Card, an option to include verse numbers in passages (they're currently not included, which makes it difficult to reference specific verses when teaching).

3 - When inserting a Bible Reference Card, maybe you can click on the translation (e.g., ESV), and choose the translation you want for that specific verse or passage.

4 - Ability to move selected "blocks" by dragging and dropping. Helps to organize things.

5 - Ability to customize the appearance (font, font size, etc.) by headers, text blocks, etc. when printing or exporting.

6 - Ability to change the design of ALL slides at once.

7 - I could b wrong on this one, but I didn't see the Sermon document show up on Logos Mobile. So if that's the case, please add the ability to see the sermon document on the Mobile app.

Thanks!

Mark

Mark Wooten:
1 - Ability to add "tags" or "keywords" to sermons to aid in organization (e.g., you can later find all your sermons related to faith).

Currently I think the Key topics and Sermon series sections are intended to provide that capability. The only downside to the Topics section is that it only retains those that are already in Logos' Topic db.

Mark Wooten:
2 - When inserting a Bible Reference Card, an option to include verse numbers in passages (they're currently not included, which makes it difficult to reference specific verses when teaching).

That would be nice

Mark Wooten:
3 - When inserting a Bible Reference Card, maybe you can click on the translation (e.g., ESV), and choose the translation you want for that specific verse or passage.

Bob said elsewhere they plan to add this

Mark Wooten:
4 - Ability to move selected "blocks" by dragging and dropping. Helps to organize things.

Yes

Mark Wooten:
5 - Ability to customize the appearance (font, font size, etc.) by headers, text blocks, etc. when printing or exporting.

Bob said during the beta period that they plan to add some style sheet options. For me that would be fine, but others would like more control.

Mark Wooten:
6 - Ability to change the design of ALL slides at once

FL developers said elsewhere that this is already a planned feature.

You are not wrong. This came up during the beta period, and has come up many time since the public release. FL said they "are working" on it but give no indication of the priority level they have assigned. For me, and I think many other users, this is something that needs to happen quickly. I am currently exporting the created documents to Word, converting, and sending them to iBooks. If we cannot see them on a mobile platform soon, I will likely discontinue use of the sermon documents and just go back to creating them in Word.

1 - Ability to add "tags" or "keywords" to sermons to aid in organization (e.g., you can later find all your sermons related to faith).

You can do that for topics defined in the Logos Controlled Vocabulary

These  then appear in Factbook entries and in Guides

Mark Wooten:
3 - When inserting a Bible Reference Card, maybe you can click on the translation (e.g., ESV), and choose the translation you want for that specific verse or passage.

Support for version switching is planned - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/130270/847200.aspx#847200

Mark Wooten:
4 - Ability to move selected "blocks" by dragging and dropping. Helps to organize things.

Requested and being considered - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/129241/840697.aspx#840697

Mark Wooten:
5 - Ability to customize the appearance (font, font size, etc.) by headers, text blocks, etc. when printing or exporting.

There are a range of discussions taking place about support for different font sizes and formats. I think something will change but its not clear what yet

Mark Wooten:
6 - Ability to change the design of ALL slides at once.

This is also being discussed

Mark Wooten:
7 - I could b wrong on this one, but I didn't see the Sermon document show up on Logos Mobile. So if that's the case, please add the ability to see the sermon document on the Mobile app.

Not currently supported but has been requested by many - Bradley suggested a temporary workaround at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/129241/840089.aspx#840089

Thanks everyone for the very helpful comments. I tried to use Logos Sermon Editor this week for the first lesson (I teach Sunday School) in a new series. While I see tremendous potential for the tool, it was a mixed bag, not unexpected for a first version of the tool. I ended up exporting to a Word document and had to do a lot of customization. Sermon/lesson preparation is such a personalized endeavor, I empathize with the good folks at FL trying to come up with a tool that works for as many different approaches as they can. One example of the mixed bag - I LOVE the idea of marking "Questions" with a special format. But when I exported to Word, that formatting was gone, so I had to create my own different format in Word and then use "format paint."

Are you aware that the "Question markup" is used to indicate what appears in the "Question" tab of the document?

This can then be exported so just the questions are present.

(And, yes, the formatting still isn't preserved but you do get all the questions together)

This past Sunday I quoted a blog post. I included the hyperlink to in my transcript so that anyone reading my sermon could go to it, but the Sermon Editor does not make that link an active hyperlink. If it could do so, that would be nice.

I'm actually really impressed with F.L.'s willingness to create such an amazing tool for us to use in sermon/lesson prep. And, if you think about it, what better way to keep people inside the Logos program while creating their messages and lessons, than providing a way to do it right in Logos? I love that it saves all of your sermon documents right in the program. Very cool!

People have been asking for this since we had the Sermon File tool in Libronix. And here it is!

And while it is a wonderful addition, I can also see some room for improvement.

Here is my list of items I'd like to see and that would be very useful to me: (there may be some overlap with what you guys have already suggested)

  • An "undo" button (not sure if this exists already and I just don't know how to do it)
  • Ability to change/format slides with specific Bible version; verse numbers; etc.
  • Ability to change/format backgrounds on all slides at once - or to change slides individually.
  • Simple spell-check
  • Drag and drop slides or boxes where they are needed in the document
  • More font/font size choices
  • Ability to keep formatting when exporting

I think if the Sermon Editor had all of these features it would be in the "good enough" range. Good enough to use for creating lessons and sermons on a regular basis. At least it would be - in my book.  Smile

Mark, good suggestions here. Much of your suggestions have been requested by others in other forum posts. For the ability to view sermon documents in a mobile environment, please see this thread, which will also have a link where you can vote for this feature enhancement. Please take a moment to vote for it.

Thanks!
