New Data and Bibles in Bible Browser
Bradley shipped an update to the Bible Browser web service tonight, and it adds the following new data and new Bibles.

New Bibles
Also, you can now keep Bible Book facets applied when switching Bibles.
This is one of the advantages of have this feature in the cloud. We can update it as soon as we make improvements and don't have to wait for the six-week release cycle that client-side features require.

This is the first time I used this tool and it took some time to figure out how it works*, but now I enjoy it, and it is very useful!
*Just as an explanation, I normally use the "trial and error" approach when learning something new. When watching training videos I'll fall asleep in very short time [:)]

We'll continue to add more Bibles, more data, and more features over time.
We have a set of priorities we're working against, but we'd love to know what you'd like to see added next. What would you find most useful?

I'd like to see the following facets:
- grammatical role
- semantic role
- semantic frame
- LN semantic domains
- Mowinkel Jeremiah source
- Eissfeldt hexateuch source
- AF genre
But what I'd really like to see is some integration (context menu would be sufficient) so that I could move seamlessly to:
- pericope comparison
- parallel passages (from harmonies)
- pericope parallels (new from Bibles that list parallels under their pericope titles)
- passage guide
- text comparison

I was just thinking that last night. I think we overlooked original language Bibles because we viewed Bible Browser as primarily for the English (or native-language) reader who didn't understand our complicated search syntax. But there's obviously a lot of value even for the original language user.
We'll get the key original language Bibles queued up.

There's a danger that all these additions are losing that focus, which is a shame.
Please give some thought to the structure of the facets, to keep it from frightening newbies. As a minimum, put the more popular and broadly useful facets near the top (e.g. Bible Books, people, Places, Things, Events, Reported Speech, Topics). But also consider grouping more of the others under broader headings such as "Language", "Syntax and Grammar", or just "Advanced".

Is there a reason there isn't an option to display the facet items in A-Z order instead of By Count, like we can do in the other browsers?

There has been discussion about adding other sort options but it complicated the development effort and the UI sufficiently that we punted on it for now.
I'm curious: is there a particular workflow this would help you achieve or question it can answer that the current sort order + facet filter doesn't?

I like to browse the possible values of a facet, especially for the more esoteric ones where I'm not even sure what the possible values might be.
Plus I think it would be best if all of the faceted browser tools would function the same way. It's confusing when the Proverbs explorer, Names of God, and Miracles of the Bible have the sort option but no filter, and Bible Browser has the filter but no sort option.

FYI: I resisted Logos Now all this time...and two days ago I saw a video on Bible Browser. I thought to myself, "Self, this is awesome! It's like the Bible Brower allows me to, with the click of some buttons, build a query, and since I REALLY stink at these searches, maybe this is a great place to start! From here, I can look at the queries that Bible Browser created and learn from them!"
So...yesterday I purchased Logos Now. I figured I would check it out a bit and if I didn't like it, "return" it within the allotted time frame. I guess my point is this. If you were targeting the Bible Browser as a tool for those who "don't understand our complicated search syntax," then I would tell you that you certainly succeeded. Absolutely everything else in Logos Now, I felt I could live without. This ONE tool made me decide to purchase my subscription. I'm telling you all this say., I understand from Fr. Roza's thread that it is not designed in a way to be able to copy over the query, but it sure would be nice since it would be a great tool to USE immediately, plus by having the syntactical query available, it would be teaching those of us who "don't understand our complicated search syntax."
Now that I've had the Bible Browser for the past day or two, and I see that I cannot see the query search in order to learn from it or create filters, I might not keep it.
