It's happening again:

Thanks, Ron. I re-sent the message to him.
Forgot one. I'm also hoping for:
John Wesley and Adam Clarke Collection: http://www.logos.com/products/details/1454
So when does this begin? It's the middle of March now....
Thursday. The real playoffs for the NCAA Division 1 Basketball Tournament starts then, too. Just a coincidence. [;)]
Thanks, but I've always dealt with Jared Bryant. And like you, nothing but positive experiences.
Sorry, I misunderstood this statement:
While I have no personal experience of this with Logos per se, I have found it to be true throughout my life when it comes to retail purchases.
I thought you meant that you did not have personal experience with building a relationship with a particular sales person. I understand what you meant now.
I see, no big deal [:)]
Hoping for the ISBE.
Which one--the old one or Bromiley? I would love to see the newer edition of ISBE, though I would also go for the older one.
Evangelical Dictionary of Theology (take it out of the set)
This is my number one wish as well. I'm not going to be able to afford much else this year. So, if it makes it I hope it finishes high.
I'm hoping for JPS Tanakh Commentary Collection: http://www.logos.com/products/details/2913

YES !!!
I don't think pre-pubs or commentaries are going to make it. However, of already published works, I would be interested in:
The Ways of Our God: An Approach to Biblical Theology--Scobie
Dunn's Galatians Commentary
IVP OT dictionaries
ALL pictures and graphics for Christian History Mag!!!!!
"any" of Scot McKnight's "Interpreting . . . " series (Interpreting the Synoptics/Acts/Hebrews, etc)
Millard Erickson's Christian Theology
Estep and Friesens: The Anabaptists
The Jesus Quest (witherington)
I H Marshall--NT Theology (though I have the condensed . . .)
Various offerings from these collections:
Baker Theology, AYB commentaries (Barth, Brown), Black's Commentaries, Chesterton and more.
Bill,
What is it about the old ISBE that would appeal? Is it still a pretty good resource even with the dating?
Bill, What is it about the old ISBE that would appeal? Is it still a pretty good resource even with the dating?
It's an old stand-by I wouldn't mind having for cheap.
And they dare call ME the dreamer! Dan, you know that is a copyright hurdle. Dream on....................[|-)]
I already have the "old" ISBE from Orr in another bible software program - I'd like to get a nice deal on the new ISBE.
What is it about the old ISBE that would appeal?
I like the old ISBE because of it's "dated"-ness. Sometimes I like to read books from circa 1880's through 1910's. I get a sense of history reading the eloquent vocabulary and undistracted devotion.
Dan, you know that is a copyright hurdle.
Heard it, but I don't get it. I am sure there is a good reason, but until I hear it, it sounds dumb and petty to me! (not Logos). Probably after I hear it, I'll be [:$]
copyright hurdle.
Somewhere here there was an explanation - either here or on the old News Groups. It had to do with the retained rights of... (the original photographers?). Someone else recently posted that magazines own web-available issues were in PDF without photos?
Somewhere here there was an explanation - either here
The forum thread was titled: "Christian History & Biography Magazine Prepub"
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/611.aspx
The "official" explanation was given by Phil Gons on the second page (Post ID 5726)
ISBE - Bromiley
Toward An Exegetical Theology - Kaiser (again, take it out of the set)

yeah, I remember that discussion, but the explanation did not "satisfy" me. Not that Phil said anything wrong, I just have a hard time understanding how it could come to this point, and why whoever owns the "rights" would not GIVE the right to publish the pictures.
Anyway, it will remain my undying request. [:)]

It's the same situation Logos finds itself in regarding the iPhone app: original contracts did not foresee future distribution. The publisher of CHM doesn't own the rights to images it published. Instead, it purchased/was granted permission (probably from a variety of sources) to place those images in print magazines. Whatever contract they drew with the copyright holders did not cover the transition to a new medium i.e. being published in Logos.
I agree it's less than ideal and I was disappointed too, but acquiring the rights to these pictures has the potential to make the CHM way more expensive.

Thank you, Kevin, as always. I don't really think about where publishers have to draw from for their graphics.
I would be inclined to pay double what i paid for the pictures . . . . I think they are THAT valuable.
I understand the first 50 issues of CHM do have the pictures and graphs in Logos format. It is only after issue 50 that there are no pictures. Is that correct?
I would love to see the newer volumes of the ICC - the three volumes of Matthew by Allison, the two volumes of Romans by Cranfield, and the Pastoral Epistles by Marshall.
I would also l love anything by Martyn Lloyd-Jones - such as the 10 volume Selected Works or his volumes on Ephesians.
I would love to see Luther's Works.
I would like to the the Church History Magazine - especially the early volumes with the pictures.
<deleted irrelevant post> Why can I look at a reply 10 times and only realise it's stupid the second I press "Post"?

As Kevin points out, the copyrights are held by multiple entities. In the case of Christian History & Biography Magazine, probably hundreds of entities. It would be a monumental task to hunt down and secure each permission needed. Some copyright holders have undoubtedly passed away and determining the rightful owner would be an additional headache for each one. I lament it is unlikely to ever happen. (I would gladly pay double too.)
Yes. The first 50 issues include the pictures. I cancelled my order for the full set when I heard they lacked the photos from the latter half. I do not know if the upgrade would delete the photos from the first half. I doubt it would have that effect but I don't know. Did everybody retain the photographs from the first 50 issues when upgrading to the full set? Does a new purchase of the full set include the photos from the first 50 issues? If so, I think it is well worth the purchase price. Although you will feel a sense of loss to see what could have been.

or his volumes on Ephesians.
Yes to Martyn Lloyd-Jones!
1 day and a little over 6 hours to go.

i bought the full set. I have pictures in the earlier ones. And tables/graphs.

It would be a monumental task to hunt down and secure each permission needed. I agree with this. Even in my Doctoral research, if I want to include a picture or graphic from a book, I need to write the author directly and secure written permission... I can quote the text all day long, but to use a picture requires special written permission. So even in an academic instance for a single use in a dissertation, using graphics is a huge task because most authors cannot be found directly and it takes many emails, phone calls and letters just to find them and then you still need to get permission. Who knew it was so difficult?
yup. who knew. Still seems odd. half of them we get it, half we don't. Did the pub---whoops, getting way OT here.
So, who is staying up to Midnight (ET) to find out the brackets???? (all you Seattle area people, "Sei Still!" . . . as a German friend would say. [:P]
So, who is staying up to Midnight (ET) to find out the brackets???? (
[|-)] Not I, They'll still be waiting on my vote after I wake and have devotions.
Well, I'll be up in order to make the site live... but I already know the brackets, so I guess that doesn't really count [:D]
I find it somewhat eccentric that I've been watching a count-down clock, with anticipation, just so I can spend money.

you can email me at dustandbreath (at) sbcglobal (dot) (com). I promise not to tell. [:#]
I find it somewhat eccentric
that is not the word I have in mind . . .
Fortunately my email is already in your database Ryan. [;)]
So, who is staying up to Midnight (ET) to find out the brackets????
Alright, this is blatantly unfair. I noticed that the countdown was headed to MY midnight, and not midnight ET (Bellingham).
So....
I thought to myself, "Self, I wonder if I change my timezone if I could get a jump on the brackets?"
So I jumped from UTC -6 to UTC +10 (Brisbane) and got this:
Nuts.
Sorry about that Thomas. I think I fixed it. Try again.
Mine brings me to Midnioght (in my time zone). Which I think is what is intended?
Who wants an early peak at the 64 title in Logos March Madness?
Here's the deal, as soon as our Facebook shares and tweets BOTH hit 100, I'll post the title list in this forum. It is now in your hands. Recruit your friends, family, fans, and total strangers to share the Logos March Madness news. http://www.logosmarchmadness.com/
Get 100 shares in each and I'll release the title list.
*And no tweeting it 60 times yourself, that's cheating [:)]
I just looked at the site and it told me my countdown clock was running early! When is this thing due to go live?
Is this what we now have to wait for Ryan?
No, the countdown clock is running off you computer's clock. This was a oversight of mine when I was coding the splash page. I should have made it run off a more static time. If you're getting the "Your clock is running fast" message, it is because the site technically launches at midnight PST.
Hang in there for a few more hours everyone.[:)]
Almost there!
That's not fair. Updates etc. are issued UTC not PST. Be consistent. [;)]
