Thanks for the link forgot to paste it in the original- grandchildren can be very distracting
Whyndell, I'm just curious your view on its modern day value.
I signed up, then deleted. I guess between the interesting theory, the unique MSS ID's, and the discussion in german, I couldn't quite get excited. No doubt, it's of historical value, especially the apparatus (which I'd bet is running the cost up).
My favorite Logos author had a nice discussion on Von Soden: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/1911_Encyclop%C3%A6dia_Britannica/Soden,_Hermann,_Freiherr_von
This link illustrates some of the value in another Logos CP (not to cloud this one too much).
I have numerous old volumes and yes the old guys sometimes more than not- out do the new guys- that being said you can find value in it.
People make fun or poo poo Dana and Mantey- yet they do an excellent job of indoctrinating a newby in the Greek language- MHO better than most modern authors.
But for $8 or less no one can go wrong.
If you study textual Critism you need to have it
Interesting that Factbook has an entry for "Soldering" but not for Von Soden [:P]
Too bad it's in German...No hablo Alemán 😬
Good time to learn German- don't for they have a German-English dictionary on CP https://www.logos.com/product/55071/heaths-german-and-english-dictionary
You learned Grk and Heb now take the plunge [:D]
Learning german would be good .... then you could go ahead and buy S&B instead of waiting for the prepub that'll never appear.
S&B would be what the ref calls down in Texas, when the batter misses: Strack!
Good time to learn German
Deustch comparison => https://www.logos.com/compare/libraries/Deutsch
Greek has more similarities to Deutsch (German) than Hebrew/Aramaic albeit German tends to place verb at end of sentence (or phrase) more than Greek.
Deutsch Bronze and above include Erweiterte Interlinearbibel zur Lutherbibel 1984 so Logos Greek Morphology and Louw-Nida visual filters highlight corresponding words in English, Greek, and Deutsch:
Currently "Inductive - Precept" visual filters highlight more in English.
