I have been trying watch videos on faithlife TV and the viseos pas every 5 seconds is anyone else having this problem?
I have mixed results. Sometimes it pauses every few seconds or even freezes. Other times it works great.
Which videos have been stalling or failing?
Looking at my history, I attempted NT281, NT308, NT317, NT314 -- all Mobile Ed courses. DL rates were like 70KB/s. A couple hours later my wife and I watched a couple Biographies and they streamed fine, running in the neighborhood of 500KB/s. I am not sure that is helpful, because I didn't actually compare them at the same time.
I am trying NT308 now arriving at 350-650 kb/s. Better success! I am having some hiccups when it drops suddenly to 160kb/s or even 10kb/s for a 5-10 seconds about every 15 seconds. Oops, not it has quit altogether even though I am showing 600KB/s download--it is hung. Dragging the progress slider back a few seconds does not help, I still hang the same place. Part 1 after the introduction just hangs and won't go even after restarting, even though it seems to be dl'ing like crazy. OK. I just let if dl for about 3 min and suddenly it took off for about 5 sec, then stopped for about 5. Went about 5, stopped about 10. That is all the time I have for now. Hope this helps.
OK, I decided to try "The Passion of St. Perpetua," which is working splendidly at 100-600 kb/s (AVG 200) without hiccups for some time now. I presume that my problem is with Mobile Ed.
I am watching runge's discourse grammar videos and it keeps stopping. I would manly purchase this for mobile ed, but service like this makes me just avoid the subscription and just buy the course.
I am not able to watch any of the Faithlife videos, except for the promotional video about the Faithlife free weekend. Every other video I try to watch fails to play.
Same issue here for NT323, I'm able to watch videos on Netflix and Amazon no problem, but stops every few seconds with NT323.
I using a Microsoft Surface Book with Windows 10. Firefox browser up to date. Cox cable with good bandwidth. No competition for my cable bandwidth.
BL100 has stalled for the third time. Each stall has been a different point. I am currently up to the "Correlation" topic. So I have finished several sections. Once it stalls, it will not recover automatically. I have been able to stop the playback, drag the position indicator to an earlier part of the video, and successfully restart from the earlier point.
It has been spotty at times. A number of videos get blurry especially towards the bottom third of the screen. It is especially noticeable when there is text or graphics displayed.
Some time it just freezes or no audio I noticed it in OT 325 David Lamb on 1 & 2 Kings
noticed one course is absent from preview BI 161 Heiser "Problems in Biblical Interpretation"
Here is an example of blurred text: Futato Introducing OT
First thanks for offering this opportunity. I too have had stalling out issues. I have had a chance to get through most of Craig Evans Dead Sea Scrolls. There have been times where I went for more than an hour with no issue. Then it just starts stalling out. At this point there is probably less than an hour left (out of 5) but I can't get https://faithlifetv.com/media/330521 Qumran and John: Dualism to get past the first minute. Stalls at the same spot on 3 or 4 tries.
Update: closed my browser. Waited about 30 minutes and it all played fine again. Might be my provider and the streaming.
The pausing is very frustrating. Every video in mobile ed that I try has the pausing...using chrome on pc.
I am sort of curious--are there people for whom FLTV is working consistently well?
I have been fiddling a lot with this, with unacceptable results. I really wanted it to work! I tried different times of day, different VPN exit nodes, different sorts of videos which I could remotely guess may reside on different servers (such as drama vs mobile ed). ME work the least well for me (never usable), and rarely, something works fairly well for a while--I have no idea why.
What I see consistently is this:
1. High DL rates 600 kb +/- - but nothing happens. Stutters. Stops. Restarts. Pretty good for a bit, then nothing. But the DL rates stay fairly high. I am watching network traffic to make sure phones or updates or other junk isn't clogging my network/internet pipes.
2. The program only seems to cache ahead a very short distance and stop. So stopping to let things get ahead doesn't help much.
3. The DL rate sometimes suddenly drops very low--from 5-70 kb/s. Sometimes stops altogether. Yet I can open Youtube or Pureflix and all goes splendidly with none (or rare instances) of the issues mentioned above.
I will wait to see what solutions appear before putting any more time into FLTV.
My wife went through the entire Mobile Ed catalog and found 29 courses that she found of interest. We planned to check each one on Faithlife TV to see if there were courses we wanted to do together.
We experienced problems (similar to those described in this thread) with every video. We tried using both Edge and Chrome. Due to all of the glitches, we will not come close to making it through the list.
I am suspicious that this weekend preview may be overloading the Faithlife servers. I am planning on accessing at least one course late tonight to see if there are problems on off hours.
I was able to complete the last half of BL100, which was two hours, with no more stalls. So I am hopeful.
Obviously the logos video servers crashed or are very inadequate considering the high cost of the product. the videos should reside on my own hard drive and it solves all the problems. What was logos thinking?
I had this problem this afternoon with mobile ed videos. Yesterday afternoon / evening it played the Bonhoeffer documentary okay.
I used Firefox with Windows 10 all weekend and did not have a problem.
I just experienced several stalls in NT101. I'm abandoning my attempt to look at it.
Bandwidth is clearly a problem. However, I would like to point out that with Windows 10 and Firefox, the stalls NEVER recovered themselves. This is not my experience when viewing videos with Youtube or ESPN. With those media providers, if the video stalls, then it eventually will restart with no manual intervention. That is not the case with the viewer provided by Faithlife for Mobile Ed video streaming. Stalls and delays can be tolerable.
Having to manually restart or re-position a video is not acceptable behavior.

I experienced this as well.
Also on every new video the sound bar was set a maximum, causing me to get a blast of sound before I turned it down. Keeps one awake!
I commend FaithLife for the free preview.
My wife and I watched, and thoroughly enjoyed, "ARCHAEOLOGY + JESUS" from the TV side. I also watched one of the comedy videos.
In neither case did we experience stalls from the TV side. The first was watched during "prime" time. The comedy segment was watched late night.
Just to add to the discussion. I was trying to get our staff to view it and we've had mixed results. It's dragging a bit which is causing frustration and then it works okay at times.
Cheers, ChelseaFC
My experience is that a lot of the Mobile Ed courses won't load or won't play and those that do will halt after a few segments on my Windows 10/Chrome configuration. Non-ME content seems to work with very few issues.
While I am grateful to Faithlife for offering this free preview weekend, it has been frustrating with all the freezing and starting over trying to watch the Mobile Ed courses. The Mobile Ed courses were constantly freezing during the individual episodes and when changing one episode to the next. The ME courses worked slightly better (only slightly) on our Mac and hardly at all on the Windows 7 machine. The two regular programs we watched on TV worked tolerably well. Maybe the servers at Faithlife were overwhelmed. Thanks for the effort, I did learn a few things! Now, if I just had some extra funding.....
FWIW, I am having success watching the Shema Mobile Ed tonight. (Excellent, I agree! thanks to the peeps mentioning it as good!). No more glitches, hiccups stops or starts. Yay! So thanks to whomever worked on it the problem. Is a treat to get to sample this course! Trying to take it all in. A bit bummed I am out of time to see more.
Like most other posters in this thread, I have been trying to sample some of the Mobile Ed courses and have found it to be an incredibly frustating experience, with videos constantly stopping, starting, stopping in three browsers (Firefox, Chrome and Edge) and on my Roku enabled TV. Frankly it's been a waste of my time.
I am currently (Monday evening) on the third hour of NT305, Moo's NT Theology. I had one stall at the first section, then no problem at all! We also rewatched one of the TV episodes earlier in the evening with no glitches.
Thanks, Faithlife. I started a campaign to get my church to take the church wide offer.
Two years later and pausing still a problem.
I personally don't get this any more. I get problems if I have watched a video and then re-watch it - it sometimes skips to the end, but I haven't had a problem with videos pausing for a long time. Perhaps I'm lucky :-)
