Catholic Encyclopedia and Encyclopaedia Biblica both at $30.00 these are both works of depth and breadth which are sore in need of bids. I encourage your due diligence.

[Y] These are excellent references, and especially strong in areas of knowledge where most of our libraries are not.

The Catholic Encyclopedia will never move to production on current pricing, you will notice that it is the bestselling CP product so it already has more bids than anything else and is still languishing due to the target price being unrealistically low.

I've been in at $60 on the Catholic Encyclopedia for a loooooong time now. I'd be willing to up it a bit if I knew far enough in advance when it would be released, but I find CPs too difficult to budget for.

I've had to cancel several when a bunch of them were released at the same time, and don't want to make the same mistake again, so I aim low now.

I've been on the Catholic one for a while.  Put some down for the other one.

The Moody Bible Commentary could use some love!

Excellent observations from all of you. James, I am of the opinion if all interested parties currently at $30.00 would move their bids to $50.00 we would be in business. I have been in since 2013 on both. I can't understand why there are not more bids at $50.00. Strong's and Hastings works garnered higher bids and I believe interest here should be as strong; yet...

If one desires, the Catholic Encyclopedia has several online versions; here is one of my favorites. Encyclopaedia Biblica has a pdf online, however the resolution is poor. But, one can still easily determine the usefulness of this reference. There is presently less support for this scholarly production. Hebraists please take note.

Oh, and Mattillo, I am equally in support of Moody's Commentary!

Though Mike's observation is directed solely at the Catholic Encyclopedia much of what he observes can be carried over to the Encyclopaedia Biblica for those of us who have interests in seeing these works of valuable reference put into production, we should be willing to expect to pay a fair price. I really don't think it is out of line to expect to spend $50.00 for each of these works.

The Catholic Encyclopedia as Mike observes already has considerable interest it's just the pricing which is wrong headed. Look, we're getting almost 14,000 pages of perspective from a major work of scholarship. As for the Encyclopaedia Biblica, though not as extensive a work in volume, its extent of coverage is unique and considerable.

I am appealing to those of you who are already in at $30.00 or less to raise your bids to $50.00. The critical effect of this intervention will I am convinced have the desirable effect of pushing both of these products to or at the very least near 100%.

These are worth some more bids, but it seems that new bidders seem to be scarce these days.

Bruce, It's always encouraging to get MVP responses to a post, but it would be even more of a boost if it was clear that yours was a personal commitment. [:D]

Sascha! This is our first direct interaction, but I want you to know I actively seek out your posts. I must first resist an urge to ramble on as it is questions such as yours that will prompt me to wax philosophical.

First, a direct answer to your question. Your Reason and my reason to consider this investment will differ. This is why my first appeal is for one to do their own research. Review the supporting information Logos gives regarding the resource, read the reviews, and as I have pointed out, in these particular cases the web provides an avenue to directly assess the references compatibility with your needs and desires. On these bases you will either exclude or accept the proposition and this is entirely up to you.

Next, I will share a little of my story. I am a follower of Jesus with certain decided affections, tendencies and generations. I love the very ancient tradition of the Word of God. I am a scientist by training and a spiritualist born out of life experiences. I love books, i.e. knowledge, music, science, fine food and good conversation. My Logos library is large, but it reflects my intellectual leanings to prefer books of reference (dictionaries, lexicons encyclopedias, etc.) bibles, grammars, various languages (esp. Hebrew and Greek), commentaries and the best of its kind. I assiduously look for value. Around Logos I'm a bit of an anomaly. I am a layman, I have no formal theological training and I do not hold any church office. I use my library devotionaly, to edify my faith and to satisfy my considerable intellectual curiosities. So, Sascha my justifications for selecting a resource are decidedly atypical.

Finally, my opinion and advice. Don't reject knowledge because it is not contemporary. Much of what we know has ancient origins and is enduring. As a physician I value the latest information, but when it comes to the art of healing I am a traditionalist. I am much more likely to use a tried and true intervention over the newest method because of the body of knowledge and breadth of experience accumulated with the older method. Some older scholarship is just plain good. And the bible is old and so is the Ancient of Days.

Sorry, I tried not to ramble and wax philosophical, but I don't think I did a good job. Love your question. I'll leave you with this, an appeal to your national heritage. I love Beethoven. Recently, I was listening to Missa Solemnis (Solemn Mass). I was enriched to do a study of the Latin liturgical basis for the piece using the Catholic Encyclopedia. Thus my personal penchant for such things!

    Thanks, Sascha

Pray you feel better soon. Your question did not come across as critical at all. As I said, I really welcomed and appreciated your question. No apology necessary.
