After waiting patiently after the Master Journal Bundle 2.1+ came out - not a lot has happened.
Where was the frequent release programme we were expecting.
Shalom
I suspect - due to the inactivity many will have already gone elsewhere.
Sad - but probably true!
I'm still here... Still waiting for JETS

I suspect a business decision has been made and it is not being communicated because it would disappoint us all. It is clear, very clear, that Journals are NOT a priority for Faithlife. They took the ball from Galaxie and fumbled.

We're really close to shipping. I'll see if we can get a projected ship date.
So today I was searching for an article by S. Lewis Johnson, Jr and found it in The Masters Seminary Journal Vol 20 dated 2009. But alas, in Logos, we only have up to vol 18. Sigh...

Neither we nor Galaxie have updates to this journal. Unfortunately, they're in an exclusive arrangement that won't allow others to offer it.

Keep us not in suspense...is there any chance that Vetus Testamentum and Novum Testamentum will be added to Logos? Just to be clear, wanting the journals, the supplements, and the congresses. Been asking for these for at least a decade...have THOUSANDS of references to these two journals in my library.
Unfortunately not in the immediate future. I don't remember the details on these, but I think it was a closed door last time we checked.
I have held off for a long time in the hope that the Logos edition will soon be available. This is taking far too long than I'd hoped for and with no end in sight, I am beginning to wonder if it is worth waiting for.
It would be sad If Logos do not carry these Journals but I do appreciate that the maths for Logos do not add up.

Is JETS still in future? The updated Biblio Sacra?
I certainly did. I've been reading updated journals elsewhere. Frankly, not having it in Logos hasn't been that big of deal to me.

How sad, especially since you can get the PDF of the journal from them for free, without a subscription.

I agree. Just because Galaxy doesn't have them, you'd think they could just get them from Masters Seminary themselves or convert for free
The way things currently are with journals and the databases they are part of, you have a better shot of unearthing Papias's Exposition of the Sayings of the Lord than you do of getting these in any other format than behind a insanely priced paywall.
What we need to see happen is more of this in order for the trend to change:

Okay, I am ready to cancel my journals with FL and go elsewhere. Why should I invest in a failed system with no proven track record? If Phil is about to ship, why should I put my money down knowing I will only get a small swath of what I really need that's already outdated on year old pre-pubs. Clearly, the community has spoken and they have opted out. I wish to join.
Recently, I excitedly opened the new workflow by Dr. Michael S. Heiser. Then I had questions for him. When he responded, I found out his method is not as they showed. Rather his first order of business is journals.
FL has a failed track record on journals. So since others have gone elsewhere, it is time for me to take the plunge and the empty promises here from Washington State can join what comes out of Washington DC. It's time for a change, So let's post where I can get journals. I can get some from Galaxie. What are the pros and cons of their system before I invest there? Where else can I get journals?
Maybe if we change this forum's dialogue into what alternatives are readily available out there then FL will take this forum seriously. I mean come on, did the video chat ever happen? This system is broken and no one wants to fix it. Let's move on.
So how about everyone posting all the alternatives to how I can get journals and their plusses and minuses. Why invest here for only more empty promises?
The pre-pubs I now have are almost a year old. The journals are skimpy. I mean JBL at 125. That's it. No JETS which was promised at the ETS in 2017 that never happened. How many other promises broken?
Please tell me, where to get journals? The academic lead at FL says they are the first step in studies and FL cannot produce.
If everyone cancels the pre-pubs then maybe it will force a change in FL's sad approach thus far to do much of value here. I vote you all join me in a strike and cancel all journal pre-pubs until a viable solution can be presented to make us believe in FL again because clearly the trust issues have been broken in this thread alone with no genuine show in any fruit of repentance only more excuses.
Thanks!

The primary collection of journals I use are from Galaxie (Galaxie.com). They offer everything that's been in the Galaxie TJL Logos used to offer.
Overall I can get to all of the Galaxie journals easily on Galaxie.com, and I can easily download PDF copies of the journals.
The only drawback with searching Galaixe journals for me is I can't easily search a Bible reference with a topic in the Galaxie search interface like I can with Logos, although there are workarounds.
The extended tagging Logos was working on for the Guides in terms of Journals never were a huge asset for me, as I generally ran my own searches in the stock search engine and didn't levelerage the Journals Guides section.
JETS is available standalone at the JETS website, but for a little more, Galaxie offers JETS and more.
JBL is availalble from the SBL website (in all fairness, all Bible software platforms cap off JBL at a certain level and aren't offering new JBL volumes), so if you want JBL (and RBL), the SBL website is the place to go to remain current.
The Master's Seminary Journal is free from their website, and Themileos is free from their website (as well as they do keep the Logos editions current for free). Other seminaries (SWBTS and Luther Rice, my two seminaries) offer their journals for free, as do some other websites I've browsed.
There's some stuff outside of Galaxie I've needed from ATLA, EBSCO and ProQuest I can get from my seminary library (and if you need ATLA, EBSCO, ProQuest access, maybe you can see if a local seminary will let you purchase a paetron membership access to it).
Then from there it just depends on what you want, and you can find different sites with different journals either free or at different subscriptions.
Thank you for pointing this out and for all the helpful advice above. I probably should have toned down my rhetoric. It's no excuse but I am having some issues I'm trying to work out, so I apologize for my frustrations boiling over in here, but it is clear to everyone in this forum FL remains ever clueless.
This beast of academic journals is presently at least untamable. We just need to do as you have done and go out and get what we can alone by piecemeal apparently as the only viable solution. That is the only way forward since a company as good as FL cannot find a solution, I'm sure not going to be able to find it either without diversifying as you have done. I will be looking more carefully into Galaxie as it seems to be the only viable alternative since FL has failed on delivering due to a lack of response in the pre-pubs and many other repeated promises of JETS and the like. Clearly, if there was a solution they would have found it by now and have not. This is their profession. How can we if they cannot even manage it?There is no such thing as good news in this forum other than other news. We are all human and often fail. I do every day. I no longer need to wait for FL to save the day and stop having any expectations from them in this regard. It's simply time to do as others have and move on. So if any others out there have other news on how to get journal access, I'd appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

Oh brother...yes, I did get it online and downloaded it for free. You know you can do that with many journals....thus there is no need for Faithlife to produce these resources. This really highlights how no one needs Logos at all. Why have a program that integrates resources, tags them, lets you search for them and in them?
Ahhh ... sarcasm
Ahhh ... sarcasm Shalom
Yes, I echo the frustration with FL over Journals. They’re the first place I turn when doing some research. Would SO appreciate FL taking this seriously for their users who regularly work with journals!
Very disappointing. I just emailed Brill to expressed my current disappointment and hopeful desire that circumstances will change in a positive way.

Your local library may have access to these available for free online, but even so, it is a chore and colossal waste of time to have to search out all of these materials piece by piece and by hand, compared to having the hyperlinks in Logos present the info instantly. I want LOGOS access.
Galaxie has the journals available via a competitors program.
I'm not aware of any that are up to date though, compared to what as advertised available online directly through Galaxie.
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce we have a ship Date for Galaxie's Theological Journal Library, vols. 1-20. More info here: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/179672/1038571.aspx#
Thanks for your patience thus far!

Looking forward to finally having this in my library!
So I checked what is new to me and learned that ALL the journals that are NEW to me are not yet available. So from what I can see, you are going to have us pay for this upgrade and in return we get to wait until they are produced? I am not sure what feelings I have right now.

Well, finally some real concrete news of action! Thank you! Now that this major hurdle has been addressed and a plan for annual releases has been addressed and the tagging is even there (is this the full tagging currently done for all journals that made it through full pre-pub process previously?)
Now that all of that has been addressed what of the current 4.1 packages that were scheduled to be released quarterly? It will be a year in May and these were to be quarterly releases?
I know FL cannot keep producing products that do not achieve profitability. What're the teams plan for them?
For those who haven’t seen Phil’s reply to Mark’s question in another thread please see https://community.logos.com/forums/p/179672/1038659.aspx#1038659
Glad some journals are finally being released! Thank you!

Yes, Phil responded to this and apparently the problem is the website. According to Phil, the 49 new Journals will be released on March 22
I take it from Phil's response that the web page had used a "live" product template so that the "not yet available" status reflects the current status not the status expected on the March 22 release date, by which time all new journals are expected to be ready and released to us..
I understand Phil's response to mean that all 49 new journals will be available on March 22
So now that Galaxie is finally addressed and a much anticipated update on April 15th in Logos 8.4 will then fix any remaining issues, I believe Phil did say the other journal bundles would start following suit! I presume once those finally get underway, what is the new plan going forward as most of these bundles are already out of date due to being stuck in pre-pub limbo? Were we not "stuck" due to the previous bundles shipping and yet it was not financially viable to continue when there was such an ill response and a new crowd-sourced plan for tagging was to be in some sort of pre-experimental brainstorming/planning phases?
We seem to be in some sort of spiral where defeat on one-side leads to defeat on the other and nothing has emerged as concrete offering hope for a way forward. FL's failures and the community's failures have fed off each other until now. If we are in this together and each are dependent of the success of the other, then where do we now stand? Or is it more waiting until such brainstorming has gotten to a place where it can be finally shared?
May we know what to expect next?
I do think more people would be on board if we had a clearer picture of the way forward and could feel comfortable investing or perhaps not. Each to his/her own own I suppose. The previous attempts have seriously endangered this process as much was discussed and much went adrift by either party. Now that action is happening, can someone let us know where we are finally headed or are we back to the drawing board and the jury is still out here?
Do tell. Or is this more of time will tell?
I am thankful for anything that gets addressed but I have given up on expectations in regards to journals in FL.
Just out of curiosity, I noticed that volume 5 wasn't included in the Galaxie bundle. Any reason why? It seems volumes 1-4 were. Thx

Disregard I went to the Galaxie site and it seems they stopped at volume 4... sorry!
I’d also like to know now that the Galaxie Journal Bundle has been processed, has our dynamic pricing been adjusted for the Master Journal Bundle 4.1? I doesn't look like it has for me.
Once I purchased the Galaxie bundle, my Master bundle decreased by a few bucks, but I mainly had apparently already most of the items from previous Master Bundles that I was unaffected. But I didn't pay what some are saying here for Galaxie either.
Agree. I'm in the smaller (?) group that wants journals but they don't have to be absolutely recent (not taking away from the need-latest group).
Journals are one of the best search sources for the unusual question, the special argument, the location with the changed name, etc. If journals are pretty much going to be the theological group, that's fine. Call it a day.
But my impression is Logos is moving to the popular, easy to publish market. Journals are the last hope for specialized subjects. Today, we learn (or maybe just me learning), the prepubs will be few and the question marks, pre-orders sure things. Change is in the offing.
Another thing I noticed today is the Bible and Spade collection stops at 2011 in Logos but goes to 2016 in galaxie. I'm hoping these get updated in the future

My mind works in strange ways.
I read your line
Change is in the offing.
That is my coins are in the plate....bad I know [:'(]
To keep it semi on topic.... my cost for the Master Journal Bundle 4.1 after the Galaxie Journal Bundle purchase did drop just a few dollars.
Also I don't worry about not having the most up-to-date journals to read. There is enough in these bundles to keep me busy for a very long time.

Any updates on the 4.1 upgrade bundles? Maybe this is pushing too hard but any updates on getting Galaxie updated as well?
I just discovered this FREE online journal.
How hard would this be to pursue Phil?
https://place.asburyseminary.edu/faithandphilosophy/
Okay I tried to search this but came up shooting blanks although it probably was mentioned earlier in this thread.
What is the status for journals like:
Journal for the Study of the New Testament
or
JBL pre #100 or post #125?

Bump
4.1 bundles are likely to ship late summer / early fall.
Galaxie updates will generally ship in November before ETS/SBL. That's what we're aiming for, assuming everything comes in on time.

Thank you Phil! When these do eventually ship, will they be the most updated they can be or are they locked in with what they state at the moment?
I was curious if Detroit Baptist might get updated as well
I'm pleased to hear the plan. Thanks for letting us know.
Good news - hopefully going forward we can also get more updates and additions
