Bug: Visual Filter in the wrong spot (NASB95 )

Member Posts: 10,980 ✭✭✭

In Logos Bible Software 7.7 ( 7.7.0.0015) Take note that the updated "Bible Text only" visual Filter is in the wrong spot.  It is under resources rather than visual filter.

Sorry, but I disagree about this being in the wrong spot. The dedicated VF menu should be reserved for user created filters. The Bible Text Only filter, while technically being a visual filter, fits better under what one might think of as resource "features". If you look at the rest of the "Resource" section of the VF menu, you'll notice that the majority of the other filters are also feature-like. By the way, this IS under the visual filters menu, just not in a visual filters section.

I see your point, but would prefer it under the visual filters menu anyway.

    Edited to remove unnecessary snark.

Thomas, I agree with Reuben that it is in the correct place under resource. In fact the bible text only 'filter' has been under resource prior to this issue arising - maybe you have never used it previously hence your feeling of it being in the wrong place, when in fact it is where it was previously. It is in this place for all bible so why move it? It affects the display of the resource so why move it from the resource category? Why would it make sense to place it in amongst user created visual filters that are for higlighting words and grammatical constructs of interest within the text? These highlights don't apply to the resource as a whole while the bible text only 'filter' apply's to the text as a whole as a meta filter if you like. It would get lost in amongst a potentially long list (variable length for each user), making it difficult for forum members and FL staff to provide support in this situation. Much simpler for support reasons to have it in the menu it already exists, non-cluttered, and where all the current training and support videos show it to be than to move it.

Everything in that whole menu is a "visual filter".

The "Visual Filters" subcategory is for user-created "Visual Filter" documents. (I think that when we first created the menu, "Visual Filter Documents" felt too long and unwieldy, but now "Corresponding Notes and Highlights" has broken through the length barrier [:)]) It could be renamed "Visual Filter Documents" for clarity.

Yes.  All of that, and I shouldn't file "bug" reports when exhausted.
