The mobile app crashes when reading the NIV 2011 Bible. I'm running v5.16.1 beta on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with Android 7.0. This occurs whether the NIV is downloaded to the device or not.

I'm having the same problem with the RSVCE2 and the NJB in the Verbum app on Android 6.0.1 running on a BlackBerry Priv (Android phone, not BBOS).

I've cleared out all the data and cache, removed and reinstalled the app.

It will let me in until I try and use a reading plan, after that I can't stop it from crashing when it starts up. I see that there's a known issue in this release with reading plans, but this has completely killed the app.

I've already filed several crash reports from the Android feedback app.

Thanks,
--J

James Fowlie:

Hi James;

For future reference, it is always best to post here on the forums rather than using the android reporting app.

I do try to throw them here, too. The feedback app does allow for the log files to be sent at the same time, so that's why I sent them along.

It takes me longer to get to the forums, however! I usually get distracted by work questions when I get to my desktop with a real keyboard.

Thanks,

Thanks for bringing this to us you two! We've got a case written up for the crash.

Thank you, Brandyn;

And James, I can see the benefit of also using the feedback option on the device, and will probably begin using it myself for future issues. Thanks for bringing that point out.

When I use the HCSB with a reading plan, it doesn't crash, but the text does not render correctly (the middle of one letter cuts directly over to another letter in a later word). I also sent in an e-mail. Maybe the issues are related.

This is also something we have a case for! Turning off Scrolling View in the HCSB should correct this until we actually ship a fix for it. In the future, if you're experiencing an issue, unless it's identical you'll want to create a new thread as well. It significantly helps us organize our documentation (as we do reference you all often in our cases) and it also helps us make sure we get eyes on as many reports as possible. We don't want to miss it if someone is experiencing trouble!

I am using 5.16.1 with the Lexham Bible that comes included. The app crashes right after it goes to the read screen.  If I have it go to home, it does not. I am not using a reading plan, and I switched it so it is not in scroll mode.

The app is unusable as it is.

I did send in a few feedback reports.

Keep up the good work!

Not mentioned in the release notes, but this issue appears to be fixed in 5.16.2.

Thanks Faithlife

Great! I've started the download now.

I never realized how much I use the app each day... I've missed it.

Thanks,
