honestly, you will thank me when you manage to purchase Catena Aurea for a mere $20. You will count it among your best resources in Logos. Just imagine being able to see how a particular passage has been understood by the early Church Fathers. At a glance to see what Origen or Augustine, Justin Martyr or Polycarp made of the verses you delving into. What a privilege. What a blessing. If you haven't bid or have bid less than $20 then you are missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime. Personally I bid for this ages ago at $36 and I would happily pay at least that to secure such a bargain.

Almost 3000 pages in 8 volumes collected from the early Chuch Fathers by one of the giants of the Medieval Church … and all for a measly $20 (that's a little over £13 in real money).

I think I will pass on Origen's understanding (and implementation) of Matthew 19:12 < Please visualize a tongue in Cheek smiley here>

I agree.  Have been in at $30 for some time.

I've been there a while - now at $30.

Don't know why I got involved; someone must have done a very good promotion. Anyway, it could be just as exciting to find out about other myths and fables of the time (like the divine soul of prophetic animals and birds who had their own church meetings  - Origen in Ante-Nicene Fathers Vol 4!).

Ha, I used to have an OT prof who would throw in "mosquito bites" in the midst of these lists.  I've taken to doing the same thing and watching the faces of the class/congregation to see if they notice.  Big Smile

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

All I can say Floyd is that when you're in a long retinue of "-ites" hearing one you didn't expect like that can jar you awake.  Not that I speak from experience mind you....
