Do the photos from newly purchased resources (such as the Zondervan Encyclopedia) automatically get added to your Biblical People, Places, and Things?

Jason, I was hoping so!  One reason I bought it!  I would think it would.  Maybe check a picture's theme and then run a media search on that theme.  I would, but getting ready for a trip tomorrow (still have time to answer this, lol)

I'm trying to use names/objects that might show up in biblical places, things, people, and it doesn't seem like I get any Zondervan resources.  I tried matching one from Zondervan that I know it talks about, but no connection.  Perhaps there will be an update that synchronizes them into places, things, people.  Any response from an employee that may know?

unless I am missing something, i agree with you: there is nothing coming up in "bible explorer" under "media" nor when I run "Biblical Places/People" etc.  That is a bit disappointing, if true.  Well, MORE than a bit.

You can still right-click and add to PPT.

As for the question what resolution, I don't know how to tell what res the pictures are.

The images in these books have been tagged with Biblical People, Places and Things, and I'm able to find results from Zondervan books through these tools. For instance "Claudius" in Biblical People brings up an image of a bust of Claudius from ZEB1, page 920.

Could you provide a specific example of an image you would expect to find with a particular person, place or thing, but aren't?

The problem may just be an error in the tagging.

under "media"

If my memory serves, media is not yet implemented for anything. It is the slot for videos.

The illustrations of the tabernacle don't show up in Biblical Things for "tabernacle."

Louis,  I just realized that I was messing around with the ZIBBCOT, and I was on 2 Kings 9:3.  It has a picture of the black obelisk of shalmaneser.  I would have thought that would show up, too.

I did just try a test, however.  On page 654, of ZEB vol. 3, there is a picture of a burial shroud.  I tried "Biblical Things" and searched for anything like "burial" "shroud" "burial garment" etc, things that were used in the picture's own description, and I could not come up with anything.  Obviously we can right click it, but it might be nice to know how, or where, those show up in searches.

OK. The explanation here, I believe, is that there isn't a Biblical Things entry for any of those items. Biblical Things is a defined list of things in the Bible. I would have to consult with Sean Boisen about what does and what does not make that list, but I don't see any of those in Biblical People (i.e. they don't come up when I type them in the box, nor do they come up for a verse like Mt 27:59 where I might expect them.)

For items that aren't in Biblical Things, another option is to use #image in a Basic Search, e.g. "#image shroud" or "#image ANDEQUALS shroud".

The illustrations of the tabernacle don't show up in Biblical Things for "tabernacle."

I get several images from Zondervan books (specifically, six images from Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary) on "Tabernacle" in Biblical Things. It's quite possible, however, that we missed some in tagging. Are there particular images that you expect to see that aren't showing up?

In the Encyclopedia, in Vol. 5, on page 665, there is a diagram of the tabernacle that doesn't show up in biblical things.  Thanks.

It looks like the Biblical Things tag for Tabernacle should have been applied here, but wasn't.

I'll make sure this gets corrected and have the tagging in these books reviewed for other possible problems.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Louis,

I was looking up Elijah in 'Biblical People' using the Mac Alpha. The only dictionary that came up on the list was the NBD. I expected more hits than that and in particular THE ZONDERVAN ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF THE BIBLE.

Is this related to the discussions on this thread and do you know when work on tagging the Zondervan collection will be completed?

Thank you

Mike Binks

Tootle-pip – a rather old-fashioned way of saying ‘goodbye’

A British colloquialism used when saying goodbye that is preferable to "ta ta" or other more Americanized forms of farewell.

Mimsy said, "Toodle Pip," to her dead grandmother as Mimsy exited the drawing room wearing a large smile and her grandmother's pearls.

The sound of a trumpet fanfare as an honoured guest leaves.

I hope this has contributed to your education.  Geeked

Are you talking about the list of dictionary articles at the top or about the images that show up at the bottom?

The list of dictionary articles is separate--being generated from Logos Controlled Vocabulary entries. ZEB hasn't been tagged with LCV yet, so it's not yet in this list. See Sean Boisen's second post in this thread for more information about LCV tagging. LCV tagging of dictionaries take a while, but ZEB will eventually be tagged. You should get hits for any dictionaries in Sean's list of dictionaries that have been tagged. If you have some of those other than NBD, but are only getting NBD, then it sounds like a bug. In the Logos 4 Windows, I get hits in AYBD, BEB, ISBE, TBD, NBD, EDB and EBD for "Elijah (prophet)", but obviously, your results will depend on your library.

However, this thread is more concerned about the images that show up at the bottom, which is determined separately by tags we apply to each image. We've been preoccupied with some changes to get media ready for printing ability, but it sounds like we'll have updates for the image tagging in Zondervan books in the next few weeks.

Dear  Louis St. Hilair,

I raised this issue in a thread in the 'Logos 4 Mac' forum from whence I was referred here. ( http://community.logos.com/forums/t/17995.aspx )

Louis St. Hilaire:

Mike Binks:

I am indeed talking about the list of dictionary articles at the top.

Louis St. Hilaire:

On the above mention thread I expressed concern that the advertising for the Zondervan Collection contains the line,

'Titles integrate into custom search reports, Passage Guides, Exegetical Guides, and the other advanced features of Logos Bible Software.'

No mention was made of the fact that some of the tagging was incomplete or even waiting to be started.

I knew my library was short of Dictionaries and the Zondervan Collection, which cost a considerable amount of money, was meant to address this shortage. I think that my assumption that it would was reasonable in the light of the promotional material published by Logos. I am bitterly disappointed with the information you have given me in your reply.

Please will you try and ascertain from your colleagues when this product is likely to match the specifications it was advertised as meeting?

Your faithfully

Mike Binks

Since this thread is concerned with the problems with media tagging in the Zondervan resources rather than the separate issue of the status of the LCV, I've answered your concern on the thread I mentioned earlier.
