Slow home page

I use 4.0b (the official release) and have found from the start (4.0) that the home page is slow in loading. I have experienced that both on a top notch recent computer (4 gb ram, dual core, etc) and on a decent but a bit older computer. Have others experienced that? Is it improved on 4.0c?

It's super slow! In-fact that is how I find Logos 4 in general. I got frustrated by the loading speed of the home screen so simply disabled it at startup, I don't really need it and just have Logos go straight to my preferred layout.

I'm looking forward to this software being optimised - right now it seems that unless you have the latest and most powerful hardware (unfortunately your 4gb ram, dual core no longer fits in that category!) you are resigned to an average experience in terms of speed.

It took at least 40 seconds to generate today's Page from scratch on my (not-too-old) laptop. I don't use the Home Page normally but it has been that slow for me in 4.0a (I use a Wireless connection).

There's no outright correlation to RAM as 2 GB can be very effective in normal operation with L4 when compared to 4 GB or 8 GB. There's no way my dual-core laptop can compare to the latest quad-core on my Desktop when it comes to indexing and 4 GB does help on a 64-bit system. In normal operation the laptop is satisfactory whilst the desktop is a little more snappy! Computer tests continually demonstrate how systems that appear to be equivalent in CPU speed and memory can perform very differently with applications (because of the different combinations of motherboard, BIOS, chipsets and other hardware).

Has anyone heard if there will actually be improvements? We've been assuming that, but I'm not sure if Logos has officially said that.

I can't dish out $900 for a new laptop, so I am kind of bummed in the meantime. I'm hoping to at least hear that some help is on the way.
